Trying to spot the difference between version 1 and 2. Pretty sure its the needle position, so I guess I'll just have a good look at mine to see where mine lies.

Is this difference likely to be age related?

The only difference i can see between Version 1 and 2 is the oil temp red area...what you reckon?

The difference between Version 1 and 2 is that there is a 5mm gap between the markings of the oil pressure and the bottom of the oil temp needle.

If you have a gap you need version 2

If your markings on the oil pressure touch the needle of the oil temp then you need version 1

Do the lights in the dash need changing to make these dials and needles glow like they do in the videos?

Right gents I have again spoken to S.C Moman and they have confirmed how the silver dails will look.

I have posted a link to a set for the VW Golf Mk3 and ours will look the exact same as Design 4 and 5.

Please take a look.

There is only red and Blue illumination available with the silver dials and as you can see the Red will match the O.E red illumination Perfectly so no need to change the remainder of the internal lighting.

But also the Silver is a very good match to our Plus dials so wont look different to the clock so they should match and look O.E

How the silver dials will look

Please have a look and let me know what you think??

Ian

Johnnymarr, I would also point out to us UK lot that normally the speedo ( irrespective of type ) normally are in both MPH & KPH ?

Are these just going to be MPH only ?

I'm just curious smile

very nice BTW smile

Taz,

Thanks for the positve reponse I have just emailed reference including Kph on the dials.

I don't see this being a drama but may increase the costs

But I will let you know when I have had a reply

Ian

In the UK it is a legal requirement for the speedo to be marked with both mph and kph.

Thanks Barnacle,

I did not know thisshocked

Seems odd that its a legal requirement in the UK to have both but in europe they only have to have KPH.

Well we will have to wait for Stef's answer on the KPH as if he can't this group buy will have to close.

I ain't making a group buy where we are breaking the law.

Fingers crossed

Ian

It's an EU requirement that all EU cars are marked in kph. It's a UK requirement that all UK cars are marked in mph. All UK cars are by default EU, so...

You get to learn this stuff if you're enough of a geek to build kit cars, and have to wade through the 'constructions and use regulations for vehicles on the Queen's Highway' stuff to get it through the SVA/SIV tests!

Now the curious thing is that constructions and use violations are not tested for at MOT time, on the whole, which tests whether anything important is about to drop off, but can I believe (Stan will be able to confirm) be tested at a roadside inspection... they cover things like the height and colour and visibility angles of lights, seeing through windows and mirrors, which indicator lamps are required on the dash and so on.

Annoyingly, I can't find an online version, so if you're interested you'll have to either go to a library or buy this: http://www.tsoshop.co.uk/bookstore.asp?F...m=SearchResults - there are a good couple of dozen amendments, too...

Neil is correct, and nowadays VOSA take the lead with this to a far greater extent than in the past. Ironically, I had a run-in with a polis years ago up in Scotland over the manufacturers lights on my Honda Prelude: the rear fog lights were too close together and were in breach of the C&U Regs. It was *only* because I passed the "attitude test" that I got away with it, and agreeing to disable the nearside foglight, so be careful out there!

As an aside to Stan's post above - the responsibility for compliance with C&U is entirely the *driver's* - not the manufacturer's.

I got pulled over once for having my "fog lights on"
I then informed the whitty police man that they were in fact my "side lights" however they are not in the bonnet like the head lights are.

The police man told me not to argue with him and that it was against the law to drive with my fog lights on.

I told him, they are my side lights.

He said he wasn't stupid and i was to turn them off as he was about to write me a ticket.

I told him to stand at the front of teh car and turned my fog lights on.

the look on his face was "priceless" laugh

i know its a bit off topic, but all this talk about rules and regs and SVA reminded me of the above.

My imported skyline gtr only had 320kph clocks in it. I had it for 2 years never any problems, my brother was exactly the same with his subapoo.

As I said, if you're not stopped it's not an issue. However, there is a schedule of fines and points for failure to comply with C&U and it rests with the driver, not the manufacturer.
