My car is off to Leighton on Saturday for mapping I planned to get the car to this stage before Spa last year, as you can see things didn't quite go to plan Full spec of the car is here TorqueStats The prize is a signed photograph of PininPrestatyn (very rare) and also something worth having, if I can find anything

Is that with a 48 trim compressor, a 52 trim compressor or a 56 trim compressor?
A big difference in the power potentials according to the compressor maps....

Nigel - Yes bigger injectors will be going in. I'd imagine 440's ? and a big MAF.

Nigel - Yes bigger injectors will be going in. I'd imagine 440's ? and a big MAF. Exactly the same turbo as mine then. I really don't know whether C&B cams give much additional peak power - I'm assuming they give more in the mid-range, although the small extra lift will always be helpful at the top end. Have you decided the maximum boost you're going to let Leighton run? (mine was mapped to 1.7 bar, but this only gave 7bhp more than at 1.5 bar, so I never bother to run the highest boost setting)

I thought long and hard about cams. In the end I decided that nearly 1k (for c&b's) for 10bhp ? wasn't worth it.
Probably 1.6 bar.
Just out of interest Nigel, is your base boost 0.8 ?
When I got the car back from Paul I had major boost creep (I did with the 28rs as well) I can't get mine lower than 1 bar.

(mine was mapped to 1.7 bar, but this only gave 7bhp more than at 1.5 bar, so I never bother to run the highest boost setting) Looking at the compressor map, it would seem to be quite efficient at 1.7 bar between 4000rpm and about 5300 rpm, and from there it would need to taper down to about 1.4 bar or less at maximum flow (about 38lbs of air per hour) to avoid a) running over speed and b) running at less than 65% efficiency. Depending on Air Charge Temperatures, 1.7 bar could deliver some impressive peak torque figures. I am looking forward to seeing the results that Taffy's car attains!

Guys when you talk about boost, do you mean mid range boost (=high torque) or top end boost (=high rpm 6000 and above)?
When I did my last RR I had 1.32 bar at 6100 rpm. Hp was 358.
I guess that you get 410 hp.

Just out of interest Nigel, is your base boost 0.8 ? It varies - Its usually around 0.9 bar, but I can occasionally get nearly 1 bar with the boost controller turned off On the assumption that you make good power, I reckon that base boost is one of the most impressive things you'll find about your new mapping - its SO smooth and progressive, with no big thumps in the back, but you're still producing over 300bhp and the fuel consumption is notably better - its really a pleasure to drive and its much easier on nervous passengers I'd be tempted to check your dump valve orientation and operation - I've never suffered from boost creep on any of the turbos I've had

Glad it's up and running mate!!! Looking forward to seeing it! I'll be mighty impressed to see that from a 48 trim compressor wheel! I think even Garrett only rate it at 385bhp....

Really looking forward to seeing your car Adam. Any chance of a lap or 2 with you at Spa? I think it will make an easy 390hp but i would like to see if you run about 1.4 max for a while, just to see how she goes mate.

Well only reason for that guess is the spec is the same as nigels bar the cams... Nigel managed 457 I think on that turbo!!!

Will the bigger trim be more laggy? Or is that in the housing side of stuff?
My guess is 419bhp.
Good luck.
Now in the 400+ bhp club!

Wow and may I say WHAT a prize Quite the collectors item, and I promise NO Purple jumpers! If I win I want a signed picture of Nigel sitting with the BTCC star Matt Neal in a Coupé, and a toffee crisp* Anyway, The winning number WILL be 427BHP! * The picture and the Toffee Crisp are separate. Although I would settle for a picture of Nigel, Matt Neal and a Toffee crisp if not.
Coopless!

I think it all depends on whether a biased dyno is used. I reckon 388bhp on independant, 415bhp at bristol.

Can a dyno be biased, if it's just a machine? Would generous be a more suitable word? I honestly don't know. No disrespect to Flea at all, but over the years the difference between a mappers dyno of choice and an independant, has always been noticable. So hence the 2 figures. Ross

Ross how do you know which one is right, if either of them is? and surely for pure comparison purposes it's best we all use the same equipment. i guess at 405bhp
