Steve,

Wouldn't use on a track, they scrub something awful. As for road use, they're fine, but do wear more than say Toyo T1-R's. Also, T1-R's make a fairly decent track tyre, can take a bit more abuse due to their harder compound.

Any thing has to be better than my current Nexen N3000.. They have been on track a few times now. Fine for the first 3 laps and then shocked..

Nexens? Sweet Jesus I'd be kneeling and kissing the ground after using those on the road for half a mile, let alone the track shocked

Were you thinking of buying new? Set of T1-R's can be had for around £270. Not bad imho.

Natural drift, no need to steer I don't doubt?

Although not so much fun when you can only carry 30mph through a corner laugh

Who would be selling those at that price? £270 I can handle but £560 for R888 is a little OTT for me..

I've used F1's on track several times - they work well, and very well in the wet on the track and on the road.

If you have a habit of sliding the car around then they will melt a fair bit on track, but you could do a lot worse using a road tyre.

If you need a tyre that will do both then Hankook RS2's do the job well, and they are a lot cheaper than R888's

I have GSD3s on mine all round.
They are hard to fault except my feeling is that they are biased towards use in the wet.
I don't know about wear.
They run quietly and give a nice smooth ride as far as possible, and now I have them all round the Coupe feels capable of running rings round the other cars on the road.

The other good thing is that they have quite a wide shoulder preventing the alloys from getting kerbed, and the wider profile makes the car look good.

When having an MOT done at SoloItalia a couple of years ago, they found three of my F1s to have suffered bubbling on the inside wall. I was a little surprised by that - they get excellent reviews.

I bought 4 of these for my coupe once. Had two separate failures, both sidewall damage. Only tyres that ever did that to me in 25 years of driving.

Mixed thoughts then... I will make a few calls today to see if any local dealers will give me a trade discount in return for my services.. Got to be worth a try.. Don't ask you don't get..

Wow - while it is rare, I think having 2 of us having suffered the same thing on this forum means it could be a significant problem. I had 3 of 4 tires suffer from that.

If the prices for the GS3s are going beyond £100, the Continentals are a better tire at that price, imho

Eagle F1's - they were made for the coop!
I'd definitely stay away from Avons though...
