Not really posted on whats happening here in Malaysia since my return.

I had a good time yesterday meeting up with the members of the ItaliaAuto club. Apart from a few, It was my first time meeting fellow Italian car owners in this region.

We had a good run on a nice windy stretch of road leading to a place called Ulu Yam. It is a stretch of road frequently haunted by car and motorcycle enthusiasts due to its combination of tricky tight sections, sweeping curves, and long straights..ok..i'm making it sound like the Nordschleife now aren't I? laugh

My day started with me waking up at 5 in the morning to meet the rest by 6am at a petrol station a few kilometres off the Ulu Yam route. Arrived at the rendezvous point at about 6.10am only to find no one there! Hmmm...these folks must have either left or incredibly unreliable!! Made a phone call to a friend who was also attending the run and soon found out that I was at the wrong petrol station blush

Made my way to the right petrol station (Across the road tongue )and was met with over 30 cars in attendance shocked
The majority of them were Alfa's while a Renault Megane RS250, a fiat punto, pug 308, an S13, 2 Subaru's, and 7 Fiat coupe's making up the rest of the numbers.

I know how much folks here love pics..so here they are smile

Midway through the route, our convoy was also overtaken by several exotic cars with the first one being what looked like a Balboni chinny ..

Big thanks to Sergio Mendes and neroalfa for some of the pics smile

That pair of Coops driving into the corner ( 2nd last picture ) is a very nice shot.

If you can take the dashboard and windscreen shine off it'd be stunning !
The white Coupe's are gorgeous. It one of the few other colours I like on a Coupe.

I trust it was a dual carriageway they were on wink tongue

Can't believe this. I don't read the appropriate subforum on the Malaysian site, so I COMPLETELY missed this meet-up - I'd have been there otherwise. The irony - had to find out about it from the UK forum! crazy

Shot must've been overexposed on that particular section. Literally ran out to check it just now. All lights working. Heh.

Great stuff Kelv smile The rosso WQB ** , that's not yours is it, although it looks like most of the road pics are taken from another dashboard. Anyway, thumbs up for the colour coded horns under its bonnet cool

Shineyshoes : I think it just looks that way due to the bodyroll?

Cowboy, Baz, Theresa : Thanks. Wish you guys were here smile

Edinburgh : Ok ok..i'll let you in to my secret. Unlike yours, I lack the dedication to paint them so they were just replaced by a set of Ring horns from Halfords which are identical to the original ones. They come with plastic caps that are already in red laugh Good job on yours btw.

Sparkyman : I gave up on your engine bay the day i used industrial acid + wire brush and nothing happened! crazy We'll just have to wait for scientists to develop a chemical which can actually shift the grime in your bay. I believe the substance is truly from outer space crazy laugh

Hi Kelv27,
I have been in Malaysia a few times and was pleasantly surprised about their infra structure and good roads. Nice pics and scenery btw.
I am also aware of their coupe fiat club.
I have often wondered how they tackle their humidy problems
in their coupes but maybe you can shed some light?
Are you there for your job?
regards,
Arthur

Hi Arthur..glad that you were impressed with Malaysia smile

Yes, I am a Malaysian and i'm back here permanently after having a 10 years stint in the UK. I don't really see the heat or humidity being much of a problem here. As long as your cooling system (and a/c!) is in tiptop shape, everything is fine. If anything, i find the snow and cold in the UK more problematic! laugh

If you're talking about how the hot weather affects engine performance,.. I would say get a big intercooler or keep the boost level down tongue

The other good thing about our climate is that the 'ol tinworm is not really a concern at all. And with many Coupes in the UK going to rust heaven, sooner or later you lot are going to have to buy them from us (the only other market in the world with a significant number of RHD Coupes).

Selamat sore( our time and selamat malam (your time) Kelv,
I guess Bahasa Malaysia is more or less similar to BahasaIndonesia? I was born in Indonesia.
Did you actually drive a coupe Fiat during your stint in the UK and now also in Malaysia?
I know for a fact that coupes were sold in Malaysia-Singapore- Japan and New Zealand be it in only small quantities. probably the reason why you all joined the Italia Auto Club?
The next time we are in K.L I might just contact you to visit and meet with the club and particularly the coupe owners.
sampai ketemu lagi!
Arthur

Porky Paul + Steamer : Cheers guys smile

Bambi : Your bahasa is pretty good! laugh Indonesia and Malaysia is very similar but there are some variations...like 'sore' confused

The coupe I had in the UK is the same one I have now. Shipped it over smile Yes please do give a shout if or when you are ever in this region. Would be more than happy to show you around.

Kelvin's car is well known in the UK as been a very good example ( my view, one of the best ) of a coupe, which he put a lot of time and hard work into.

I'll try and look out the iconic image of Kelvster's coupe when it was in the UK, that would be the basement photo cool
