Bristol Mini-Meet and Birthday BBQ (and night out) #1229930

After a suggestion from Joe a while back, i'm considering a Mini-Meet/Birthday Celebration for my 29th.

Sadly this cant happen ON my birthday (which interestingly IS the 29th July). As party animal and all-round good egg HoveDan is unavailable. So i'm thinking of doing something the weekend before.

So would anyone be interested in a Bristol mini-meet, on Saturday the 23rd July, including an afternoon in the park (if sunny) or the pub (if wet) followed by an evening out on the town?

I'm sure i can try and get a group discount on any hotel rooms if anyone fancies a day/night out in Bristol and are a bit out of taxi range.

So...any interest?

I'm thinking BBQ in Greville Smyth Park if it's sunny, with appropriate drinks and sporting whatnot (cricket, Frisbee, football etc) or pub grub/curry? if it's raining.

I've seen a few people have BBQ's at the park and i think as long as you stay off the football pitches and put it on a stand no one batters an eyelid.

On the night out?

Well Flea wouldnt be seen dead in any nasty places, and i'm a creature of habit. So it will be strictly half decent bars with top totty. Well away form the stag and hen partys and fights of the waterfront and town centre.

Then onto one of the small clubs in the area, preferably one that HoveDan can find his way out of without walking into a janitors cupboard.

I was in the park today an there were a few people having BBQ's, PCSO's (Police Community Support Officers) wandered through the park and didnt say anything to them so i'm guess that BBQs here are allowed laugh

Excellent.

Right, possibles meet list:

Truffle
HoveDan
Flea
MiniMetaller
CountryCruising
CoupeDummy
Paulioski
Nazo

Thats a decent number.

My main concern at the moment is where people will stay overnight.

What we got in the way of local hotels Dave?

Also why do we organise a Coupe meet Staurday, BBQ or something similar in the afternoon and then evening out for your Birthday chinny

I like that suggestion Dan.

Joe - What sort of hotel are you after? Pretty sure there would be something to suit all budgets within a stone's throw of the centre.

Top work by Dan, truely has left my in awe. What a quality mate. thumb

After chatting with Dan it looks like this might just turn into a BBQ and night out rather than a coupe meet of any sort. So dont feel the need to spruce your cars up. laugh

Reubs, is Neil up for this? There's room at the inn if he is. And being a coop owner, he qualifies smile

So what time do we reckon we'll be in the park? 1pm-2pm?

Right a little update:

Looks like we could turn this into a bit of a weekend! The plan thus far is to meet at the park at 1pm (weather forecast dependant) stay there for the afternoon then, i'm not sure exactly when, we all retreat to our various places and shit, shower, shave and meet up again in town. Probably in GoldBrick House (i can hear Leighton's groan from here laugh ). We'll quickly move on though because it is a bit expensive in there!

After this night out on the tiles, I'm wondering who would be interested in finding a nice place for a Sunday lunch and watching the German GP?

Note: Should rain affect play, an all weather venue will be secured. (pub)

That sounds like a good plan Dave.

What's the parking like down by the park, and is there and entrance or is it all just open?

Parking is free on site at this park James, I've been there a few times with the sproglets.

Looks like it's turning into a van meet rather than a coop meet! I may bring the Caddy over smile

That's good then Dan. I know it's over in Southville isn't it? Not usually the greatest area for on-street parking in my experience, but if they have parking then that's good.
