you shouldn't need to file the ends of the pads, did you clean all the crud from underneath the pad guides as they should sit flush with the caliper and there should then be plenty of room for the pads to go in

Hey Doug, gave them a quick clean, didn't strip the calipers though.

Only had to file down both outer pads on the calipers, insides fitted snug.

Just been out for a few hours and given them a bit of a breaking in.

All seems good. Don't want to speak to soon but might have been where my mintex were too easy fitting that produced the squeal.

Loving the no noise slow breaking at the mo, will update as I go.

ok, hopefully you won't get any squeal although might be worth cleaning the crud behind them if you get any recurring probs

VERY true, but Carbotechs squeal like a duo of drunk donkeys at a karaoke party. But boy, do they stop, you'll be eating the windscreen before you can say "When" as in "When I tap the dashboard, brake" smile

My last squeal free setup were 3G discs and Pagid RS14 yellows, pretty good for road use and track days tbh. Carbotechs are simply another level.

And M-TEC and EBC yellows, cheaper option still and work fine on the road, bit vague when cold mind shocked

I've had them for a around 2 years and theyve only started to squeal in the last few months. The squeal isnt every time I brake either.

You can chamfer the leading and trailing edge of the new pads to help stop squealing.

Why do you think the standard fiat pads don't squeal, it's not due to material, it's because they have a large chamfer on them.

That's fine. I've done a double check and they seem fine.

Waiting to fit them this weekend with the black edition MTEC disc brakes I've just got.

ST- the OMP road and sport are what ive just fitted with mtec grooved discs front and rear.

i only had to grind down the the edges of the front outer pads, the insides fitted good.

they've been on nearly a week now and so far so good.

im LOVING hearing the engine and exhaust and not EEEEEEEEKKKKKK!! lol.

The ones on my Sprinty are the loudest squealing pads I've ever heard. Think I'm gonna go for Yellow stuff's on the front and see if it cures it!

Driven to changing the front pads today as a last resort to the excruciating racket - the suppliers said "Fiat 20vt? Brembos? SIGH!" I said I've seen a lot worse comments than that...

So the only ones they could get locally on the day [in Falkirk] were Delphi. Now bedding them in, and they haven't squeaked once smile
