...last weekend. It's the Sprint Blue one that was on sale at Motormech a few months back.

Bought in the middle of moving house so has been a pretty hectic week. I've not had the broadband connected yet so haven't been able to post to thank the whole forum for opening my eyes to these fantastic cars.

The power, the sound, the looks and character are even better then I thought. 3rd gear is magic! It's more economical than my last car on long motorway drives and the reaction I've had from people is pretty impressive! I'm visiting my parents this weekend and even my very sceptical Dad has come round to liking them!

Anyway, I had checked over the car as thoroughly as possible but I've got a few teething problems.

The clutch pedal feels like it's catching on something at times and it doesn't fully come back up. There's no slip in it so I'm guessing it could be a hydraulic problem? Initially I thought it was getting stuck under the floor mat but it's definitely something else. Would replacing the slave cylinder help?

The stereo keeps cutting out the sound and I have to switch it off and on several times to get it back. I've fiddled around with the wires in the dash and it helped for a while but it's come back now. If I accelerate or hit a bump it just goes quiet. I'll be giving it a more thorough examination today. I guess it's just a dodgy connection in one of the several thousand wires in the dash!

Aircon is not cold so I'm assuming just a regass. Any recommendations on where best to get this done please?

Once again thanks everyone. As soon as I'm regularly back online I'll join in some of the discussions. I'm going for a drive

Does the stereo display change to mute or Tel. If so it is the telephone mute wire (Brown I think) that is earthing and turning the mute on

I would get a full aircon check before re-gass. Most places do a gass and check for about £75. They will also add some dye to make leak detection far quicker.

Clutch could one of two things:-
  • Slave cyclinder (cheap to buy and quite an easy fit)
  • Release bearing sticking (Expensive and if replacing it you may as well replace the whole clutch too as the labour is the expense)

And lastly Welcome.

Don't forget to edit your profile to show the car type, colour and add your loaction.

John

Hi and welcome,

I'm surprised Paul at Motormech didn't give a warranty. Was he selling it on behalf of a customer or was it his car?

Cheers people.

The stereo is sorted. I removed a load of wires which led to some Nokia phone thing and it seems to be working fine now.

The car does have a 6 month warranty but as I'm the 2nd owner since Motomech I don't know if it still holds. Will call this week.

Thanks again

My clutch sometimes feels sort of clicky some days but smooth most other days, i had the slave cylinder replaced and its still the same. Its not bad enough for me to worry about though.
Welcome to Coop ownership.
