From the other post on this subject.
No, you don't need the holders, just push-fit bulbs which replace you old bulbs in the original holders. Easy to swap. The bulbs you need are 286X 12V 2.3W clear bulbs supplied by same supplier. cost about £5.
Supplier's name and e-mail as follows:

My thoughts exactly. As T said, I can see them perfectly well without the brighter bulbs, but would consider changing them if I had to replace one, anyways. Ross

Err well don't forget you still have the panel lights dimmer control. These brighter bulbs have only been suggested for use with the red illumination white background "Plus" dials, not for the clock (although that would help with the white clock) and not for the heater controls. The dimmer only dims the main panel lights, not the clock or heater controls.

How many do I need to buy in total then?? Ross

There are 6 bulbs for the main dials illumination, the bayonet fittings can be hard to remove without a pair of pliers. 1 bulb for clock, and 2 or 3 for heater controls IIRC.

Its 2 for the heater controls, as I replaced them recently.
So I would need 7 bulbs total to change it to brighter ones.

The upgrade job takes 10 bulbs, all for the clocks. I just double checked on my old dash. It is just a coincidence that they are supplied in a box of ten I have fitted the white plus clock and this is fitted with a standard bulb with an orange plastic cover. It does not need to be uprated as the brightness of the standard bulb in the clock is the same as the upgraded bulbs on max (as DaveG says you have full dimmer control ) I did not change the heater dials as these bulbs are fine as standard, however they all seemed to be a bit loose and I pushed them further in to the bulb holders for good measure.

Well I hate to disagree Mark, and like you I don't really want to pull the dash apart again...but I have 4 other dial sets in the garage and a good memory of the plus dials I just installed. There are 6 illumination bulbs, 1 for the low oil P light, 3 for side, mains and indicators on rev counter, plus the long row of bulbs at the bottom for injector, CODE, etc. I think you are counting the low oil P in your total.

My spare binnacle is in my boot. I'll check it tomorrow if clarification needed.

Dave,
I expect I am counting low oil, I physically checked my old binnacle and there are 10 bulbs, excluding any in the bottom row of hazards, so I just changed all of these.

My gauges with kayjeys boost gauge fitted. I tried to take night time pic, but iPhone didn't really pick up the picture. Try it with my actual camera tomorrow if I remember. One thing about the boost gauge - lights up pink?! Gonna need to get that sorted with a bulb painted orange or a bright orange led. Cheers. Ross

where can i buy that boost gauge? You'll have to keep an eye out for them on here and they don't come up for sale often. There was a small number produced by someone for the French forum (I think) a few years ago.

They're based on a Racimex gauge. They weren't that cheap in the end, around 80 euro's I think. Probably only around 10 of them in the UK though
