Utterly brilliant. Just shows you don't need HD , 3D or any of those gimmicks. Just a well constructed documentary. My wife and daughter came with me and they both enjoyed it (and shed a tear) Half way through my daughter said "what happened to formula 1?" "It was well better then"

and she was right smile

Saw this tonight.

Can I be the first to say that I didn't think it was great, just OK.

What I did think was amusing was that in 1994 the pace car used was a vauxhall cavalier crazy

I thought that too. The lack of pace behind the safety car was thought to be a contributing factor to the accident for a while.I've been following F1 longer than that, we've had 6 wheel cars, turbos, ground effect down force but the emergence of Senna, Scuhmacker, Mansell, took the sport to another level. I thought it was a great film. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up during that on board lap of Monaco (Prost was just a tOsser, I used to tell my wife that at the time. She still fancied him though) smile

I remember watching on tv some programme detailing reasons etc contributing to the crash. Basically beaching on his ground board and having zero control of direction due to tyres cooling and loosing pressure.
Be nice to know more and see the guy than just his demise. That's what I know from that programme so be interesting to watch the film. Plan to see it this weekend. On from Friday to Sunday 8pm starting. Odeon Picketts Lock for anyone near the Hale. Innit

I saw this at the weekend and thought it was amazing!

I remember watching F1 when Senna was around and remember watching the race of his accident, but was too young to realise how much of a legend he really was! The film has also made me despise Alain Prost, what a bell-end!

And I agree, the in-car footage at Monaco was just plain scary (in a good way!)!

Just watched DVD. Compelling viewing. For those interested, no words.
The story, especially with what has happened in motorsport racing in the last couple of weeks ....!

Received my Blueray / DVD / Digital Two weeks or so ago. We started watching the extended version but almost immediately switched to the theatre version - both me nor the missus were in the mood for long interviews that broke up the 'natural' flow that was in the cinema edition shots. Missus said 'yeah start watching, I don't mind, was planning to go to bed in 5' but she actually got caught into the movie and stayed until the end.

As for the content, well it's very good. No doubt about that. It's refreshing to see some spectacular shots, no stupid slow motions, just the pure 'story'.

And that will also be my final conclusion, despite the fact that I did find it lacking in some places. Actually I though it was more an 'introduction' to Senna. Yes, he was this young guy that had a talent it was unbelievable, but there was so much else. They indeed touch many aspects and many racing situations, but it lacks some depth, some details and insights into many of the hows and whys. If you were following F1 at that time, you remember how much deeper the Senna vs. Prost was on the track. It just shows the Senna - Prost coming together at the critical Championship deciding races. In the same way that you kind of miss the story when McLaren started getting slower, Williams doing the active suspension, but how Senna showed so much spectacle in the McLaren trying so hard. The introduction of that wooden plate and all the commotion around it, and then the step to Williams which many considered as a bit of an 'easy move' butthat didn't seem to pay off as it didn't suit Senna's style. You kind of liss the many opponents also.

As such, it's still excellent, but it's a sequence of extracts and I miss quite some moments - and many demonstrations of his superior performance, which is shown through achievings rather than visually.

But then, a movie like that would lead to a 3 hour thing at least. Which was what I hoped the extended version would bring rather than interviews, which to be honest don't offer that many interesting viewpoints or extra information.

I haven't yet seen all the extra's, far from it, so I'm anxious to see them.
