Hi all, i hope this is in the right section.
Over the weekend i fitted a sports cat to replace the standard cat on my car. After driving it for a while, the power delivery now seems to be less aggresive. Is this a characteristic of a free flowing cat or decat, or could i have actually lost some power?
My coupe paranoia is leeding me to think i have lost some power. Now not only this, after driving about 100miles, i have seen that my car cannot hold the boost at all now, dropping to 0.7bar, whereas before it would easily hold it around 1-1.1 bar.
When fitting the cat should i have reset the ECU, and could this be why my car is behaving not as it should? or is it just a crap cat?

I would have expected a sports cat to free up more power rather than the reverse. I'm not sure the ecu is involved in this either, but hopefully more informed brains will be along to advise soon rolleyes

Agree with Proccy; I have replaced the standard cats on my pair with 200 cell race cats, and they both appear to rev quicker and boost to 1.1/1.2 with no problem. I'm sure more expert advice will follow......

....in addition to any other advice you get on this thread I can heartily recommend a session at FC Performance if your beastie hasn't been mapped already.

Better performance (bhp and torque) and fuel savings as well. My Scottie is standard apart from the cat, and made 271bhp/277lb/ft on the rollers after mapping,

Tim

a long shot really but assuming the cat is not a duff one and is partially blocked which would cause the symtoms you have

the only other reason i could think of would be the lack of back pressure from the sport cat might be causing the wastegate to open prematurely which would lead to symptoms of slower spool up and not holding the boost further up the rev range, might be worth adjusting the actuator rod to see if it improves things

otherwise a sport cat should do nothing but help performance as it lessens the restriction in the exhaust
