Does any one that runs get a pain in the leg only after your finished or on warm down. Its not severe just dull ache, kind of like shin splints but not as severe? New PB 5k 17.24 tread mil. I will be running parkrun soon

New 10k personal best this morning. 51:52 Reading Half Marathon is less than 2 weeks away now. Well done, you should be on for a sub 2 hr HM time? Thanks. I'll be really happy if it is under 2 hours.

Best if luck. I have not found much time to do anything lately. Perhaps tomorrow.

As i'm getting back into my morning runs now that it's lighting up, i started getting shin splints and aching arches. So on saturday i went to Up & Running here in Bristol, had my gait analysed and left with a pair of Brookes Adrenaline GTX 12's. We'll see tomorrow morning how their fare on their first run (i didn't run on Monday as I wanted my shin splints to go away completely)

They did indeed, good run this morning, no shin splits or aching arches at all. I couldn't comment on their performance compared to other running shoes however as this is the first time i've had my gait analysed and bought specific running shoes as opposed to just heading down to a sports shop and picking a 'nice' pair of trainers! The only issue i did have was for the first half mile i found I was running faster that I normally would. I quite literally had a spring in my step I had to actively slow my pace to stop myself from getting knackered to soon.

Truffle you should try barefoot/minimalist running. It's how we evolved afterall!
Never again will I waste my money on expensive trainers.

Having started this thread then not posting, I have my first race of the season this coming friday.
Maidenhead Easter 10 (Miles).
My last training run was 7.5 miles in 1 hour so will be pretty dissapointed if I don't finish in less than 1h and 30 mins!

Good luck with that elder. I'll take 1.19. and 46 seconds. I too had my first 'event' of the year last weekend, having dropped out of two early-year 10k races out of sheer laziness. With no training whatsoever I did a half marathon. My lungs survived, but my legs (hip joints) didn't fare so well. Anyway, managed non-stop but hurt for a few days afterwards, which shouldn't be surprising. Worst time ever of 2 hours 3 minutes. What I need is tips to get me out on the pavement, since I genuinely enjoy it once I've got going.

Ha ha, yeah, I had slowed to about 11 min miles by the end, so not much more than a walk really.

Well done. Only done a few runs this year. mostly 5km some times with a pack to or from work. Decided to get out today. I did 8 miles in 1 hour 4. Really started to tire at 6 miles. Feeling it now.

Can we do a "guess the time" sweepstake? I'll put a pound on 1:23. Good luck in the race! Well you would have won a quid! Finished in 1h 23 mins and 3 secs! I went out far to hard and regretted it for the rest of the race! I think another day and I could broke the 1h 20 barrier!

8 minute 18 second miles over 10 miles still good. Do you have a pb for that distance?
