You are all so lucky. We have lived where we are now for nearly 4 years. Only had snow twice, and only lasted a couple of hours each time. Both times were when the rest of the country got it bad. Have been able to see snow for days in the distance over the Lakes though.

Six inches here this morning. The 'deep crisp even' coefficient is quite high...

My snow tyres are on the Bravo, since it's the one doing the miles, and the coupe is on the drive. It looks like even a Brazilian might be able to improve on previous snowman efforts...

Yup - we run winter tyres on both cars (and a couple of my bikes too wink ) - it's normal for it to be freezing or below most mornings and it almost never gets above 7C which is where the benefits of winter tyres kick in. They're pretty much essential on the Merc for snow. The only downside is that snow becomes a non-event - there's no driving challenge at all even in the Merc - just point and go.

No hint of snow here.

Have a look at this picture and spot the loony.....

Sorry it's a small image but I grabbed it from the BBC News website homepage blush

I *might* give him the benefit of the doubt and "assume" he's being towed but why no hazard warning lights, unless he's got total electrical failure?

Holy fork. Perhaps he's hoping he's so close that the impact will be slight. Or he's running on stealth mode...

Heavy snow falling now with a fierce south wind. -5.
Trying to feed the birds but snow keeps covering the bread etc.

Heh. The birds have ignored the seeds I put out for them, but today they're queueing up to feed.

I have just seen a great tit and a Robin fighting. It got so bad that i went out in the snow to stop them.

To late ! The great Tit has killed it ! And has now flown of with it. As an avid bird watcher i have never seen that before !

That would be a first for me too... robins are aggressive little sods, but in my experience fight with each other and just scare off everything else.

Just took a wander around to the supermarket and Halfords (needed a new ice scraper having broken the last one a couple of days ago) and can only observe:

Snow tyres = good.

No snow tyres = Har har...

No, down the ringroad, past your place, magic roundabout, and on to Halfords. Same back. No problems except on the car park.

We have hardly had any snow in Barrow, unfortuantly it could be 6inches or 6 feet deep and we still have a 2 hour journey to work frown

I thought you weren't supposed to put your hazards on when being towed, as you can't indicate?

Ah sorry that was me driving with no aux belt on the way to the garage to get the locking wheel bolts removed, and needing to save battery power, I wasn't using the brakes much (to stop the brake light coming on) so ended up a bit close to the car in front, but in the end it seemed like slipstreaming was the way to go... wink

Yep, got the banjo and the rifles packed.

I was thinking of visiting you one evening, but it's an hour and a half at least each way and in this weather... when the sun shines, eh?

Yeah, that was the first question Mrs Stan asked, as she hid her chocolates, "Oh is Neil coming to visit?" laugh

I did point out to her the distances involved and the weather! Bring plenty of woolies......!

Oh and watch that road, it's bloody lethal!

I think I'll wait until later in the year, Stan - the job looks like I'll be up there every couple of months or so.

Don't understand what the fuss is about - it's fine here. 15 degrees and sunny.

Ah, wait a minute. I'm in Spain.

That'll be it, then.
