Ok, how much cost one brand new Coupe back in the years when people bought it from local importers in UK?

They were about £22 - 23k new in the UK I think.

I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

The Plus was. The "regular" 20vt was £20k and the LE £26k I believe (1999). Coming from the price new in other countries, I'd guess the 16v was 16k in 1995 and the turbo was 18k. Base models for all of those.

Happy to stand corrected on this, I only have a 12 year old list in pencil in my docs, and I've lost the official one with options prices I had.

Yeah, prices dropped about 2-3k euro over that period over here. The 1.8 16v was around 18000 euro in 1999 and the 2.0 20v was 24000 euro.

European market cars have some different colours and trims to UK ones, so it was possibly never a UK option.

Mine was a shade under £19k, with the sunroof and the metallic paint as the only options, new in 95.

Ooh - that's a massive difference from the prices in other countries! In Euro they were just under €25k converted to the later Euro, meaning around £15k at that time. With sunroof (Euro prices) £600 and metallic €300 it would still be a £6k price difference.

It was, I think, Fiat's most expensive car in the UK by some significant margin at the time.

Lovely cars both of them.

I once bought an X-19 with 4500 miles on the clock, it was 12 years old at the time. Absolutly perfect condition, even had the original tyres on it. The problem I found though was being too scared to use it, I couldn't even sit in it without worrying about the alcantara, it became a liability so I sold it and don't regret doing so. Cars are for using or pulling apart!

Hope you changed them instantly and didn't even consider driving it likethat. Shelf life of a tyre is 3-4 years. And life while actually being used not longer than 7-8.

So think twice before using your space saver that's been sitting in the boot since 1997 or so.

Nope, I left them on, I knew I should of but the car was amazingly original. I checked them and there were no cracks so took the chance as it was hardly driven and never hard. I agree with what you say though, should of changed them.

It was the one seen on the front of this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fiat-X1-9-Collectors-Guide/dp/1899870512 the Gran Finale
