I won't be abusing you, I know how hard it is to refrain frown

It's easy to just go and buy a pack and start again frown

I was surprised you'd done so well with the hassles you've been having to be honest.

It's just a shame you'll have to go through it all again, but hopefully, you'll be stronger next time smile

It isn't all a black and white thing. Just because you have a lapse it isn't the end of the world. Just get back on track and forget it.

Yes, in theory, it's that easy.

In reality though, it's a failure and you see it as that and think sod it, I may as well carry on now and I'll stop again next week/month/whatever.

I felt SO dirty asking for fags at the petrol station again...

Please feel free to abuse me !!

This post reminded me of something i read when i was researching Calorie Cycling, i think it has a similar meaning here:

Many times we see dieters that start out great. However, there comes a day that for some reason or another they lose a workout or they blow their diets. After that day, they become so discouraged that they continue losing workouts or destroying their diet “up until next Monday”, as they say. However, many Mondays go by before the person gets back in track (if he/she ever does).

In the mean time, muscle tone fades and the fat pounds pile up. Please remember the following. We are all human and we are entitled to make mistakes. Always strive for perfection, but if for whatever reason one day things don’t go as well as they should, then move on, forget about it and continue with your program.

If you blow a meal one day don’t make it any worse by eating bad all day long. If you miss a workout, don’t wait until next Monday to start over.

Just continue with your program the way it is laid out. At the end it will be your determination and your consistency that will enable you to win the battle of the bulge.

In other words, why wait till the 4th NB, just pick up where you left off. smile

On a side note, MASSIVE KUDOS for T. I know on some 'personal' threads we haven't seen eye to eye but I cant imagine how difficult it must be to give up smoking, especially for someone for whom it wasn't exactly 1 or 2 a day tongue

Well done T, must of been quite hard for you, you smoked more than I did shocked

I still get the urge for a smoke now and again even after 18 months.

Thanks Taffy, you've done brilliantly cool

That's my main worry and main reason I didn't want to give up - the urge will always be there and will be a constant battle for the rest of my life frown

The Spaitalia trip with Coupe owners, etc was always going to be a big tester for me with the fags and I've been worried the event would be the start of my failure.

I'm pleased to report that although I did have a couple of cravings/urges/need for a real ciggie, I didn't give in.

My E Cig got hammered more than usual, but that's what it's there for smile
If it wasn't for the E Cig, I believe I would have started smoking again by now and especially over the last few days.

17 weeks for me now and although I'm still getting a nicotine intake, I'm pleased I've come this far.

I reduced my nicotine intake to half just before the Spa event too, so will try a lower strength again when I'm ready and will take it from there smile

Time to put the same determination into some weight loss now too.

Well done lard, although i'm now suffering from nicotine gas poisoning from the trip, and the effects of your stinking feet when you took your Matalan trainers off laugh

Hi my name's Jon and i'm an ex smoker. tongue

Just got to the end of day 28 of being smoke free.I've taken the route of cold turkey.I had given up in the past twice for 8 months each time(21 and 23),but due to stressful circumstances I ended up taking it up again...

I've found it's been quite easy, but I never smoked anywhere near as much as Theresa.I was in the region of 10-15 a day...

Literally smoked my last one and said 'that's it'...Had a moment the next day where I thought 'Yeah,i would probably have one now' and the week before last I was nearly tempted into having 'a go' on a friends cigarette.Luckily I convinced myself otherwise (being out with mates and having a few jars in me didn't help). rolleyes

Still,I'm well and truly over it,as said further up the thread, i'm now at that stage where i'm either a smoker or not..and it really doesn't appeal anymore.
The most shocking thing for me,having smelt the lads I work with after their fag breaks, is realising just how much I used to stink of fags. shocked

Next job,buy a decent bike and put the new found lung capacity to use and get back to my physical peak!
Good luck to all others in keeping up the good efforts!
