Someone is selling a full set of 20vt wheels on here.
I would seriously consider a full set

Just out of interest, what is the load rating of the alloys?

Were not implying that all refurbed alloys cause issues though are we? It could have been unlucky with that batch, or the process that, that company used weakend the alloy. We will never know the primary reason. its more for piece of mind no?

In reference to powder coating and the heat required to cure the application, most common casting alloys will not anneal until around 650°F, coating ovens typically run below 400°F so unless there's been a failure with the thermocouple or the rims have been left to soak this shouldn't of caused this issue.

It's frightening to see two failures on the same car in such close succession but my money if on pot holes.

The wheels are the original alloys, ergo low mileage, and were powder coated by a guy I've used about 15 times before, he's got a modern set up and is reliable.

I'm at a loss as to what's happening here.

I once had a non refurb one crack a spoke, that was a large hole in the ground on a sharp - national speed limit - bend in the road. 4 spokes look pretty but they aren't the strongest.

Any plus wheels ever given up or is it just the vt / le ones??

I've never seen anything like that and certainly wouldn't have though paint-curing temperatures would affect the alloy...

You would have thought that if that was the case it would have happened many times to many different types of wheel and would have been identified years ago?

I dont think its the heat from the paint curing thats the main culpret. I think if the wheels have been dipped in acid far too long and it has worked its way into hair line cracks then that combined with the heat from curing "could" potentially weaken the wheel.
