I am actually suspecting that 'Team GB' is supposed to echo an advertising slogan for one of the sponsors, but as yet I haven't discovered which.

Off to watch the Time Trial thsi afternoon. Only a couple of miles from my house I might even be able to get back in time to see the finish on TV.

Go Wiggo!

I'm loving the Olympics so far. I don't think team GB (that name doesn't bother me either) are doing that badly so far. We have only missed out on 1 Gold that we were trully hopeing to get so far which was Cavendish. We also missed out on a potential medal in the 10m Synchronized diving, but then the official prediction was to only get 1 medal in the diving which we may still do with Tom Daley. Also getting bronze in the mens team gymnastics wasn't expected. Realistically at this point I think the team GB coaches would have wanted 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze, and other than the gold we have achieved that.

Hopefully though things do pick up now and we can pick up 2 Golds today (Womens Double rowing, and Cycyling Time trial( and that will really get the ball rolling then.

The time trial favorite is Fabien Cancelarra, so a silver is the expectation. But if Fabien fails and Froome excels its could be a Gold and Silver.

I hope Bradley Wiggins isn't racing today - someone's nicked his gym kit, so he'll have to play in his underpants.

Depends how you define 'favourite', but if you go by the betting odds it is certainly Wiggins, and surely based on form you would have to say Wiggins too? The betting odds have Cancelarra as 3rd favourite with T Martin (Ger) as second favourite (Froome is 4th).

Er there were some events involving swimming and little boats.

Fortunate enough to see the first gold being won today in the slightly bigger boats. Gutted for the mens 8s - whisper it quietly but that was also seen as a realistic prospect of gold.

Fair point on the Canoe we were expecting Gold in, I had totally forgotten about that. I didn't think up to yesterday there were any Golds in swimming we were trully hopeing to get.

Anyway, who cares, we picked up 5 medals yesterday, and the cycling starts today laugh It is all looking good to me.

I hear that RM is putting medal winners on stamps. I thought you had to be either dead or the queen (or possibly both) to have that honour.

It's great to see the GB team doing so well and can only be good for morale for the rest of us, at least short term. I know it's deeply unfashionable to profess to be proud to be English but i'm feeling very proud of that fact today and proud of the rest of the UK too. So shove that and smoke it wink

What a day, 6 golds! With Team GB through to the tennis finals in both singles and mixed doubles, to get at least another two medals there.
