Right - I have no idea how to produce a file suitable for upload to Youtube, so I'd appreciate any advice, please.

What I want to do is upload a text presentation, which runs through the pages at a set rate, with no other video content at all.

Any experts here?

Would a PowerPoint presentation work?

I could do one of those, certainly, but then what do I have to do to get it uploaded?

Perhaps you can just upload as a slideshow. Does Google not help?

I haven't ventured in to the instruction dept yet - rather hoping for a simplified explanation! I seem to have a mental block about Youtube uploads; not sure why. How do you get a video of yourself talking, interspersed with e.g. PowerPoint pages? Do you have to compose the whole thing as you want it to appear before you upload it?

Yes, you would merge the audio with the Powerpoint, to result in a video file (.avi, .mov etc), and then upload that to YouTube.

I see. Can you possibly offer a bit more detail on how to do that? Is it all done from within PowerPoint? Or is there another program I need to create the overall Youtube file?

OK - I have found a guide here:

I suspect there is no shortcut!

Well in PowerPoint 2010 you can do to File > Save & Send > Create a video. You'd then need your separate narration which you can record on your PC easily into a .wav or .mp3, then overlay the 2 together in something like Windows Live Movie Maker (free).
