I was wondering if i have to declare a decat when i fit it? I dont mind declaring it but i've read somwhere that a decat is illegal

oh yes its illegal mate!! better keep quiet

only thing is... is it worth declaring other mods when your running a decat which will invalidate insurance anyway???

The problem is that you are required by law to have a cat (from a certain year) fitted regardless of the car passing an emissions test. It's crazy. but true .

I got a race cat - I don't want the hassle come MOT time or being illegal. Not a lot of point paying the extra insurance for declaring all my mods and then making the car illegal.

1992, K plate and on cars need to have one fitted to pass an MOT iirc though some are ok due to some loophole of imports..

Or if you have LPG you dont need to have one fitted, kinda makes up for the drop in power as well
