That hill is bleedin immense......

Leighton decided that 1.6 bar was the maximum for today - he used 1.7 bar last time, but it hardly made any difference

Leighton also had a play with "ecu safety disabled" in order to see what the engine will really do when given its head - naturally this gave the best power run of the day, but it's rarely, if ever going to get used

So - pub figure first - 502.7 @ 7,300rpm - 386 lb-ft @ 6,200rpm

However, the real top figure is a bit less. 488bhp @ 7,200 rpm and 378 lb-ft @ 6,200

Didn't get much chance to try it out on the way home, but I'm sure I'll have fun experimenting over the next few days

Leighton will probably post in his Traders section, but here's a taster

200bhp at 4k rpm
250bhp at 4,400rpm
300bhp at 4,750rpm
350bhp at 5,200rpm
400bhp at 5,600rpm
450bhp at 6,200rpm

New rev limiter is at 7,500rpm

Should be handy , assuming I can find traction....

Nice results, those figures above are pretty much the same as me, apart from the 450bhp @ 6200rpm smile

Well done to all involved. Congratulations on breaking the 500 mark. Nigel are you sure those bhp/rpm figures are right? As comparing to my graph it seems your power is coming in a lot later where I would have thought it would be faster with head work etc

Congrats Nigel, that's quite a hike in power. Wehn you've got a few miles under your belt I'd like to hear what it's like day to day in terms of drivability with the new mods.

I would like to know too. The power numbers are not very useful without knowing the charge density.

When I do dyno runs I plot ACT as well as boost and AFR - then you have a much better picture of what's going on.

It feels ridiculously rapid - way quicker now at 1.4 bar than it ever was at 1.7

This maybe down to being forced to drive a 16v n/a for twelve weeks - I got to the point where I was thinking it was modestly quick....

I think the difference this time is that it feels like a solid wall of power from 3500rpm until 7,500rpm - its completely relentless with no steps or surges or tailing off - very impressive and it really makes me wonder what a well set up 2.4 feels like (not that I'm considering it - would be pointless)

Thats the secret, not just a big lunge of power then waiting for the next `assault` as you hit a lag period,or being forced to rev higher than you really have to ,to keep it on boost.

a solid spread of real power is always faster and easier to drive in the real world smile

enjoy

Matthew, my youngest son, has travelled more passenger miles in my Coupe than anyone else, but today, when I floored it through second and third at 1.4 bar, he was totally taken aback by the change in the way it drives.
