Here is a tough one and a slightly different take on the top ten favourite albums thread.

Your top 5 albums/cds that you listen to complete. That is you do not skip one track at all. In the days when track skipping menat getting out of the chair and moving the needle you tended to listen to albums as one, but there are always track you would skip if you were not so lazy. CDs and MP3 players make this simplicity itself now but are there still albums that you play start to finish. Finding 5 for me is tough and most of my fav albums have one track I just don’t like or is really duff.

One rule, no compilation or “Best of” albums.

So my starter post:-

Yes – 90125
Dan Reed Network – Slam
Genesis – Invisible Touch
Marillion – Afraid of Sunlight
Kate Bush – Hounds of Love

Only 2 of these would make it into my current top 10 albums.

Avenged sevenfold - avenged sevenfold / city of evil / nightmare
White zombie - astro creep 2000
Velvet revolver - both album's
Shinedown - amaryllis
Pantera - vulgar display of power

I could easily do more. I have lots of good music.

Metallica - master of puppets
Inxs - kick
steel panther - both album's
Tenacious D - all album's
Iron Maiden - brave new world

I'll stop now.

Jettblack - both album's
Aerosmith - pump

P.S Americana is a brilliant album and all the songs fall into each other perfectly.

Tom Waits: Heart of a Saturday Night
Tom Waits: Swordfish Trombones
Nick Cave: Push the Sky Away
Philip Glass: The Hours
Arvo Pärt: Spiegel im Spiegel

The Nick Cave album is a bit of a recent entry having only been out for a couple of weeks, but of his greats, it is the most complete.

Wishbone Ash Argus
Jethro Tull Thick as a Brick (One or Two)

Very tricky

In this order

The Who - Who's next
Pink Floyd - The Wall
The Who - Tommy

This is the 'absolute' only 3 that I can listen to complete and the Tommy album is only just there.

1) (Cheat ahoy!) Hunky Stardust by David Bowie. I'm really not a big Bowie fan, but the fact that you can listen to either of these two albums (released, lest we forget almost 40 years ago when the rest of the world was running about in mop-tops) straight through and they still stand up is incredible.

2) A Grand Don't come For Free - The Streets. Although Mike Skinner has since lost his muse, talent, credibility, etc, this was designed as a complete narrative and was, in my view, a triumph. Not all easy to listen to, but vital as part of the whole.

3) Get Happy - Elvis Costello 20 Tracks, no duffers.

4) Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People... Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Sheffield.

5) Radiohead - OK Computer. WTF? Oh, it's brilliant.

Good call. And you're right, there are tracks I would never dream of putting on a playlist, but every now and then I listen to this album and I don't skip a single track.

Ref: a grand don't come for free

Totally agree with what has already been said. A fantastic album and a genuinely enjoyable listen. I also think it was an incredibly brave thing for Skinner to have attempted, so you have to give him some credit even if you don't like his music.

You sound like a Who fan; I nearly had those two in + Quadrophenia but I don't tend to shoot through the whole lot. I could have added PF's Wish You Were Here or Atom Heart Mother, but The Wall has to be one sitting cool

Very much a Who fan but too young to of seen Keith Moon play.

Who's next is the ultimate Who album

Mud Rock - Mud (My first LP)
Get Dancin' - Disco Tex and his Sex-O-Lettes (you get it or you don't)
Born in the USA - Bruce Springsteen
Live 75 - 85 - Bruce Springsteen (Best of but shit hot)
Rebel Yell - Billy Idol
Rock'n'Roll Swindle - Sex Pistols

Ok that's 6. To begin with I thought I was pushed to find 5!!!

To be fair it's very rare I listen to any album all the way through. I will often listen to the same track 3 or 4 times, yet the next time I listen to the same album, I'll listen to a different track 3 or 4 times.

Pretty straightforward, although I do much prefer listening to a whole album in one sitting, rather than shuffling in and out.

Off the top of my head (that have not been mentioned already):

Admiral Fallow - Boots Met My Face
Amy Winehouse - Frank
Elbow - Asleep At The Back
Athlete - Vehicles & Animals
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
