I agree Jim. Albert Park is a bit of a freak circuit and the track being green for the race didn't help. We won't get a clear picture of the pecking order until after three races and even then, it gets shaken up again at Barcelona, when the teams bolt on big upgrade packages.

The lack of performance from Williams was a big surprise this weekend. The drivers and paddock in general were impressed with the car in pre-season, but they had a nightmare of a weekend. Maybe their preparations had been disrupted with the death of Sir Frank's wife, which happened last week.

I don't think the Mercedes was too bad on tyre wear to be honest and running more downforce generally helps tyre life. Hamilton used to be really hard on his tyres, but he's learned over the past couple of seasons to temper that down quite a lot. In fact, I think Hamilton made his super softs last longer than almost anybody else in the first stint.

A fantastic start to the new season. Glad to see Red Bull not running away from the start. Great result for Kimi and Alonso. With the lotus not hammering the tyres as much as the others especially the Red Bulls it could be a very interesting and close start to the season.

Fastest laps...

Vettel = 1’30.409
Bianchi = 1’30.454
Bottas = 1’30.652
...

So if we get some consistency from the new kids on the block... smile
