Am getting a real itch for these of late, is it going to be a real step down from the coupe?

Anyone here owned one?

Adam

No but I'd love one! In red. Amazing hot hatch! love in fact any Peugeot 10 years or older with 'Rallye' in the name will be rather good!
It's just a lighter GTI-6 (a cracking hatch in itself).

I'd have thought you'd struggle to find one. I didn't think the production run was that long?

I don't recall much needing special attention on those. Common problem on Peugeots of that era is the rear axle;specifically the trailing arm bearings. Check the wheels don't lean in too much, and that the arms move freely. Could easily be a 500 quid job if the axle needs work.

Think the 106 would be more fun.

You can send the details over if you like but only really after a winter car and one of these took my fancy....

Is it a massive step down from a coupe speed wise?

They're not far off to 60 (high 6's) but the coop will fly past after. The rifle bolt 6 apeed box is a good 'un.

My 16v converted 106 Rallye was as fast as a standard coupe up to about 70, which felt like warp speed in a 1994, 800kg tin can laugh

Coupe would mullah 306 in straight line, but but pug would disappear in the corners...but then, the pug looks like your frumpy aunt in spandex, and the coupe looks like a supermodel..

Had to google! But I had a 'TU5J4' engine. Progress blog and pics Here smile

Coupe felt like a boat for a while afterwards to be honest, but I never felt safe in the car, particularly after being in the passenger seat of one that almost killed me!

(Thats the VTS we hit, you can see the rallye down the road) moral of the story is don't get in a 19 year old's car thats trying to impress you with his driving skills!

Looks nice. But as quick as a coupé? There are mi powered 205s that wouldn't be as quick.

Yep, quick as a coupe smile 800kgs/140BHP vs 1320kgs/220BHP and the power to weight ratio winner is the Rallye. The gearbox was stupidly low geared and up to about 70 as I say it was as quick as my standard 20VT. After that the coop would muller it.

It's this one, point to point, probably quicker than a coupe, marginally slower in a straight line I'd say

This one sounds fun for 2k less:

Cheap way into rallying (if there's such a thing!)

Last edited by pinin_prestatyn; 03/10/2013 21:12. Reason: Actually after reading about it being 'tappety' perhaps it's not such a bargain!

i know we've shifted it towards 106 Rallyes (sorry OP!) but I really like the look of this one. It's been Cat C but It wouldn't put me off. The age and type of car means 95% have had a prang at some point.

I like both and they are very rare the only thing I don't like is the amount of chavs that get hold of the 106 rally's and get the loudest exhaust and make it sound like a bag of crap frown

Fun rare cars though
