Where I work there are no allocated parking spaces and very limited on street parking spaces behind the office. Frequently, I'll have to find somewhere else to park and this includes some public roads in the vicinity.
One road in particular, a cul-de-sac approximately 5 minute's walk away, is a spot in which I park as a last resort. Today was such an occasion.
When I returned to my car today I found the following note under my wiper blade;
Polite Notice.
Please be aware this cul-de-sac is a RED road and only for the use of pedestrians and for vehicular access by the residents living here.
The road is narrow, but is sufficient to allow for the movement of resident's vehicles and also for emergency vehicles, there being the need for ambulance access.
Casual parking by non-residents is inconsiderate and causes acute problems for residents.
It has led in the past to accidental damage to vehicles parked here.
It is preferred that further damage be avoided.
Aside from the last two sentences basically being a not verycleverly worded threat of damage towards my car (I'm not worried) I have every right to park there and no reason not to. There are no signs or double yellow lines restricting the parking.
The road is easily as wide as an average residential street (including all the adjoining roads which are frequently parked on) and there is more than enough room for even the largest ambulance or can to turn around.
Now I've had this note before and it's always typed and printed which of course means that the person has it saved on their computer and (I imagine) sits in their window eagerly waiting for another chance to use it.
However, the first sentence is new. Anyone know what a "Red road" is? As I said there's absolutely no signage indicating any sort of perking restriction.
Is it something this note's author has made up to try and intimidate me further?
