So, work finally decide to give me a car to do my job. Which is nice. hehe

In the good ol' days, we'd get a choice, but pay a contribution towards the car... which was always the preferred option as you could have Audis, VWs, Fords.. whatever within reason.

But now, due to the cuts, we are on a cheaper solution where you don't have a choice, the car is small and basic, but the car costs you less.

So, I'm fizzing about in my Pug 208 1.4HDi with all of 68bhp.. shocked and yes it's slow. (My previous car was a 140bhp TDi Leon ... yes, DOUBLE the power.)

But somehow, it is kinda fun. The handling is great, the steering is sharp and you can carry lots of speed into corners. The drive is involving too, because you have to change gear a lot to keep the engine in the sweet spot.

So, maybe less IS more...... and then there's the fuel economy..... 58mpg on an engine with 150 miles on it aint bad.

Gripped your sounding like James May! laugh
But you are right.
Buzzing around in my lads VW Polo(which only has 70hp) can be good fun, so long as you accept your not going to beat anyone at the lights!
(But it doesn't follow that a VIS is more fun than a Turbo, just in case this is were your leading!!!!) hehe

Erm of course the VIS is more fun than the turbo. ..... I thought everyone knew that ?? rolleyes

I like James May. He's the only one who speaks any sense.

Of course I am not saying I don't want more power, but i am having fun using what I have.

I had a go in Joe's "Posh Pig" which I believe is a VIS last week and it was a nice drive. It certainly sounded good. Have you owned a turbo?
As the self parodied Clarkson would say .....POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!! loser

Anyway back on topic, there is definitely a place for well sorted small cars which are fun to drive. MX5 being an example, an original Mini another.... smile

My son's VW Polo is almost not basic enough (it's like a mini Golf).
For fun we could have got a Clio or perhaps a Fiesta, but parental safety issues affected the choice!
