Still on the look out for a SUV/4x4.
Floods here are subsiding, but suspect we will get a bit of snow next!!!
Pretty much narrowed it down to either a XC90 D5 or a X3 2.0d. The x3 is around the right size, economical(ish) but the Volvo appeals more as a comfy cruiser? I believe the x3 can be a bit harsh on ride.
I have found a few local examples for sale which I hope to test drive soon.
Other options included LR Freelander 2, Kia Sportage or Qashqai AWD. Put off by what I have read about steering arm issues on Freelander 2, but otherwise I might have given them a go. Low residual values on Kia and looks of Mk1 Qashqai have put me off them?

They seem to get mixed reviews?
I was looking at the 2007 face lifted model???

Subaru Forester in petrol only until quite recently?

I would recommend if possible to go for a later version of the x3 as the early ones had a few problems. I like the looks of the kia sportage but have never driven one.

I've heard very good reports about the Sportage. I used to be firmly anti Kia, but since they are now owned by Hyundai the quality is far better.

Worth a test drive. You might be pleasantly surprised.

The sportage is a cracking vehicle. Many wont look past the badge, but those that do are in for a pleasant economy influenced treat.

Hyundai also make Hyundai Tucsons too. Highly recommended smile

Xc 90 all the way. X3 has too many issues.

I have started to notice Kia Sportage (circa 05-07 plates) and the sibling Hyundai Tucsons about.
Neither can be described as "pretty cars", with perhaps the Kia being a tad more attractive? What struck me though, was when I came alongside one in traffic, is how surprising big they are! Somehow on their own, they look like a quite small SUVs, yet they must be actually bigger than a Tiguan or X3?
Unfortunately, for me, they do not look very modern or luxurious inside? ( I apppreciate they have each been superceeded) say compared to a Volvo XC90 (which in itself has been around a bit) but I have always thought was a nice looking vehicle as SUVs go.

Anyone know what are the key "issues" with the D5 XC60-90? Being able to do 150k miles does not seem uncommon,if looking on Autotrader or Ebay is anything to go by? confused
My aim would be to buy a good one with upto 80k, which looks like it has been cared for, and then keep running it for say another 80-100k miles?

The Saab has a new MOT with the rear coil having been replaced, so it's ready to go up for sale. smile

I think the Tucson is a grower. The twin exhaust port rear end is very nice!!

You're welcome to come and look at it if you're passing?
