Yes the SAAB 9-3 is a good car, I have a 51 reg'r (convertible).
Supremely comfortable and nice on a long journey and very reliable, for 2 years, then at 66,000 miles all hell broke loose!

Too bloody hot in summer down there for an open car. Air con is the thing.

Can you not have both, Pete? All I can say is that almost all of my friends and family who have moved to the med coast left their convertibles behind. The exception was my late mother took her X1/9 down to the coast when she moved in 1986 and it was simply too hot to drive it roof up or down in the high summer. No air con in those days. I have always used the air-con in hire cars - except when running out of power going up mountains. The time I took my opening roof Grande Punto down to the Costa del Sol in August, as the sun rose the roof was shut and the air-con went on.

Not so sure about the beach buggy or Barchetta (2 seats) and I once mentioned a 306 Cabrio and got verbally kicked all over town by MrsC, so probably not.
Is the Jaaaaaaaaaaaaag a 2+2 or just 2 seats. That is pure Costa cruising! Love it!
Edited to add: The ad says it's a "genuine 4-seater", but then again if I believed half of that ad, I'd be giving my bank details to every exotic Prince on the Internet.
I think I would want a bit of waftage; I love the Saabs too, but is a "ridden 4-pot" (TM Shabba, late of this parish) going to have the effortless, barge-like cruising of a 6 or even an 8?
Convertible coupé? My guess is that it will the suave, head-turning Dr Jekyll with the roof down and the grotesque, nauseating Hyde-monster with some ramshackle canvas atrocity stuck on when it rains.

Ahhh, missed the 4 seat part. How about the Mk 4 or MK 5 Astra Convertible? Will be cheap.... and has plenty of seats. More importantly, it is a folding hardtop. Astra Also here is a suggested list of hard top convertibles. list

Left Field option...if you strip the doors off and lower the wind screen it becomes the ultimate convertible.

I just did a bit of sick in my mouth. Shifty, it's one of those vehicles of which we do not speak! Edited to add: Actually as Land Rovers go, it is rather a nice one.

Sorry Jim, it would though be pratical and kind of cool in a Bear Grylls way.
Got to remember that in Spain only the main roads are smooth, the rest are shocking.

If a euromillions win is required, why restrict yourself to 3k? I'm ignoring that then. The car you need is a DS Decapotable. Hubba. I'll even fully forgive the ridden 4 pot-ness.

The déesse (which of course means goddess in French) is lovely, but hardly conveys the image of dodgy former estate agent having it large on the costa. I'd die of heat exhaustion in the legally-enforceable black polo neck.
