Don't know what they are doing yet Chris, but hopefully will find out tomorrow.

I will update as soon as I have something back from them.

Hi all, just caught up with this now having just got in.
Well that's spooky, I too tried to get hold of Niel Sinclair today too, how funny. To also see what was going on! But got no reply from reception let alone the man himself.
No record of entries! OMG shocked

What an almighty cock-up, this system of not letting you know if you are entered or not is not fit for purpose! What a shambles it makes Brooklands team look. And that is being polite!

Pete, thanks for taking the reigns, let me know if you need further info for me and any additional help in organising it. Let's hope they now pull their finger out!

They have screwed up royally and there is no place for us in the demonstrations but have offered 2 complementary tickets to the event to each of us.

Quote:

Motoring Demonstrations

Important Notification

Dear Applicant

We have been overwhelmed by applications for the runway motoring demonstrations this year and recently the extent of a problem with some electronic entries which meant they were not registered at the time of application has become clear.

It has become necessary to limit the number of cars running on each day and therefore I have to inform you that it will not be possible to process your application.

Our sincerest apologies for this late development, rest assured that steps will be taken to prevent a recurrence for the 2015 event and that details of those who have been affected by this will be noted so they can be given suitable priority treatment for next years event.

By way of apology we would like to offer 2 complimentary Adult Day ticket(s) for this years event. If you would like to receive these please advise the name and address to which they should be sent by e-mail to eventsadmin@brooklandsmuseum.com.
.
It will however be necessary to park in the public parking areas as the motoring demonstration paddock will be allocated solely to those cars running that day.

Thank you for your support and forebearance

Neil Sinclair

I have said that we are not happy, this is the email I sent in return:

Hello Ian,

Thanks, but that is not really the answer is it?

You have all the addresses of these disappointed people, so I suggest you send them the complementary tickets without any delay.

People have booked a place in this event since February and to be quite honest I cannot see them being at all happy with this offer.

I am certainly not.

As we all expected to be taking part in the demonstrations we did not even book a club space where we can gather. It simply is not the same being an individual in a crowd without having our own meeting place.

Perhaps you would like to arrange that for us?

We need space for the coupes and a 3m square event shelter.

I suspect that our members will be most reluctant to set aside space to participate next year unless you do something to rectify the appalling booking method where applicants are not informed unless they have been unsuccessful.
They have been under the impression that they would be putting on a show for the public for 6 months now and have made arrangements to do so, at the same time enjoying a day out.

It does not extend simply to Wings and Wheels.

Our members participate in all the AutoItalia events at Brooklands, I cannot see them being as keen to attend as in the past.

Ultimately this could reflect on your revenue. Even now I have an email waiting for me from Phil Ward asking me if we will be going to the Autumn Motorsport Festival.

I will make the contents of this email available to those who expressed an interest together with the attachment you sent.

In the meantime, perhaps you could consider the merits of arranging a Fiat Coupe Club pitch as some sort of recompense.

Regards,

Pete Pearson. FCCUK President.

Peter,
What a fiasco! I have heard from friends in the Honda S2000 club that they have had their tickets (applied for online) for some weeks, which p*sses me off somewhat! Especially because, as you said in your letter, I applied for these in February!

I congratulate you on a stonking good letter however and I believe we should let Phil Ward know the depth of our (collective) feelings? If there is the offer of a FCCUK pitch I might be minded to show up, if for no other reason than we can demonstrate our commitment and ability to organise a drinking session in a brewery! If not then the Bank Holiday weekend is completely free to do other things.

I will definitely look forward to Sheridan Bowie's annual get together at Honnington (registration accepted!), Hope to see others too?

OK.

We now have a club stand on each day
so please let us have a good turnout to demonstrate, as Thunderbox suggests, that we can organise a pissup in a brewery.

They have missed the post tonight so tickets and passes will be sent out 1st post tomorrow morning directly to participants.

We are getting 2 tickets per car, the wristbands will need to be saved for admission on Sunday if you are doing both days.

Unfortunately we will have a different pitch each day so can't leave stuff up overnight.

We need to be there before 9am latest both days as the public start coming in then. Gate staff will be on duty much earlier than that to let us in.

I still don't have an address for Sharman, so they are sending his tickets to me.

Thanks again Pete for firing a rocket up-em! grr

It seems a bit odd that they should send me a reminder to join in, in July if they were "over subscribed" crazy

I feel partly responsible for not chasing this up earlier, so sorry for that frown
But as Pete and I have said the registration process is a joke! I doesn't take much for someone to send a simple email saying "Application received" & "Application accepted" now does it!

I hope this doesn't put people off from coming in the future, it is a good day out if the weather is fine (let's hope). And you never know this almighty COCK-UP! might just change the very procedure of application, let's live in hope and pray for good weather smile

We will be there on Saturday but will be leaving before the end of the day as our friends are having a leaving party in the evening. Always assuming they do send out the ticket so we get them on Friday!!

Thanks for the efforts you've taken on this and as you and Ross have said, they are a total shower and need a better and simplier system.

We now have family tickets which are being sent out by a different office.

Quote:
Hi Peter,

I will post all your tickets tomorrow. You each have a family ticket instead of 2 adults tickets, as we are running very low on adult tickets so we are giving family away instead for you. This permits 2 adults and 3 children between ages of 5-15. So if you did have any that would like to join you feel free to bring them along at your leisure.

I have sent you two for you and Sharman.

Best Wishes,

Emily

Many thanks for sorting this and I must say I'm quite disappointed with the whole last minute thing especially since I got the same email Ross mentioned about with extending the runway runs. I bet when they sent that email they hadn't realised a lot of people had applied and they hadn't received their electronic confirmation, until someone pointed something out and realised it was their cloud9 up.

Anyway, I'll be there on the Saturday smile

Until now I was unsure if I could make this one. Now I can, will there be a coupe area? It seems most if not all are taking part in the Runway.

You need to read above, none of us will be doing the runway this year and instead, are having a club stand

Reading back over this thread it's a total fiasco. Shame everyone who had applied for the runway have now been so badly let down.

Emily tells me that all the tickets have now been sent out so we should get them tomorrow.

Alex (Sharman) she has sent yours to me as they were done before she got your address, so I can either post them on to you (risky) or meet early Saturday and hand them over. Are you going to be there anyway with your Alfa? if so, it may be academic.

ok ive just caught up on this whole fiasco as ive not had internet for a week, and im fizzing !! spent 200 quid last week getting oil changed, tracking done and wheels balanced ready for this.
And really confused too, i made 2 applications one straight after the other ( one for alfa one for coupe) . maybe 3 minutes apart.
they sent me the wrist bands and demonstration pass for alfa (im hoping that means runway !?!?) but not for the coupe, so electronic problems my ar#e !

Do you need me to send on your coupe tickets in the post Alex or shall I give them to you on Saturday?

Demo pass does mean runway.

Shall we meet at the The Three Compasses close to the entry gate for the static display site or at Smithbrook Kilns which is just around the corner and where we met last year?

No strong views either way on this one although The Three Compasses is nearer the gate we use for static displays.

Thanks Pete for sorting out this fiasco of organisation!

That's assuming I receive a ticket!

On the basis we DO get our tickets on time- just to confirm that Jean and I will be coming for Saturday and meeting at the Three Compasses is ideal for us (as we're coming from the south). Meet up by 8:30am?

it's actually both days Ross, have a read of the accompanying letter which tells us our pitches for each day. That is probably why Emily told us to retain any wristbands for Sunday if we are doing both days. It covers 2 adults and 3 children.
