Well after taking most of the modified stuff of my car eg exhaust, cone filter, dump valve then taking my car for a good drive I must admit I prefer the standard car rather than modified.I have modified/improved cars all my life but must admit I thought I would never say this but my preference is standard.

For everyday driving, especially in traffic I to much prefer my standard coupe to my modded 360hp coupe, jst the organic racing clutch is enuf to put me off taking her out when I knw their wil be traffic!! Which is 90% of the bloody time these days but for pure out fun you jst cnt beat the rush when 360bhp of burble kicks in !!! So thats why you need 2 coupes!!! Lol

at heart it'd be modified, i mean who wouldnt want a coupe at 300+ Bhp ? but every day driving, a standard coupe(engine wise) is perfectly fine, a simple remap is enough for me, a little bit more power on tap but in a standard coupe.
Signature to large. 300 x 100 max

Is it just me that thinks 220bhp is more than enough it is still a very fast car.I bought a gtec chip from Graham but never fitted it as I thought the car was quick enough.Maybe with me approaching 40 I am getting to old for these 300+ bhp coupes. I would far rather spend the money making my coupe mint than spend the money on 300+ bhp mods.I still think a standard car is nicer to drive

You haven't mentioned suspension here so no need to go into how bad standard suspension is on these things... With 40k miles on the clock when I bought it, it used to wallow and flop over around corners. It's terrible and wouldn't be acceptable on a modern equivalent. As for engine / power, none of the modifications you've mentioned will make any difference. I'm confused? I think that, like all cars, Coupés can be modified badly and made worse to drive. I like to think you can modernise a Coupé with some careful choices and not lose any of the best bits of a standard car. Granted, it won't be a smooth GT anymore - more like one of the latest hot hatches, but it needn't be horrible to drive. I love how much more feel I get from my car now. It's so much more visceral and pointy without being horrible on a long journey, and it will only get better when I carry on modernising it with new seats and a new suspension set-up next year.

For me the only downsides to modified would be the on/off clutch - which you don`t notice if you don`t drive anything else, and badly modded suspension. I will have some more pictures of this in 48 hours, just need to get it dug in. Read MODIFIED x 1000

Well I was lucky to get this stuff and that it has worked so sweetly, I may try some further mods to bed it right in but the bonnet closes, as it also clears the expansion tank when mounted on the nearside. Titanium studs from Lotus F1 (I think), cfc heat shields from various F1 cars (there is another not shown yet) and the cover is from Cosworth V8 XD. On the next car I build i`ll try to source V10 bits as I have discovered that the mil. spec. connectors don`t really cater for 5 or 10 cylinder engines! Enjoy. The cable in the scuttle will vanish. Happy modding. (I am so seriously chuffed with this, oh my god)

Thank-you for your comments, another cover like this has come on the market today as it happens! I didn`t know they were rated so low, no. The sureseal connectors which I quite like have the same rating and I believe one type on the car is rated at 20 only. In comparison to those dreadful blue, red or yellow crimp connectors? For the coil packs i`m planning on giving the circuit for 5 cylinders 40 amps by using a 12 pin hi-amp having used 2 of the 20 amp pins for live and 2 for earth, the injector setup is giving me a headache though. I can`t test running currents as I have a slight engine trouble so i`m doing component research and maths. I`m doing the widget too:- M3 x 35mm titanium tapered dome screws(matches the dash - ish), cover for the back, custom to the board and als range connector to the loom.

What clutch have you got Dan ? That's a good question. It's supposed to be a helix organic, but I suspect it's some kind of barbz hybrid. I hope it lasts.

If it's feather light, it's not a Helix organic! I love how heavy my one is. I've never had problems with it in traffic either. Great weight, great feel and very grippy. It's just a shame it can judder a little.

In truth you are looking at a Fiat engine with electronics from a Lola/Cosworth Indy car. However, the engines use similar parts in some ways - like CAM-cam phase sensor, CRANK-tdc sensor, TPS-throttle position sensor. I have to fully re-wire the part as I won`t be using the circular connectors Neil referred to, I don`t seem to get the data I need to implement them so I will use the Deutch type or compatible. I have all the data and supply I need on these and they have a d/r rating of 500.
As far as I can ascertain, aside from the battery terminals and the heavy duty wiring from battery to fuses etc., the highest current rating of any connectors on the car is 20 amps! Fuel pump and rad. fan connectors. Please see my project thread for full info in coming weeks/month/years.
I would like to see the clutch debate flourish myself as it is not easy to change, gets used and abused constantly and seems worthy of some investment.
Now, can anyone give me any pre-load data for the front end suspension setup?
p.s. I have a 16 valve turbo engine in stock as it were, from a Lancia Thema or Thelma as she was known. I bought the other cover so i`m doing a 4 pot development.

It *is* rather dated. It's twenty years old. It's *supposed* to look rather dated.
Dropped suspension? Meh... A standard Coop looks more dated than a calendar. A tastefully modded one is more timeless than a clock with no hands.

Well, I think there are a couple of sets of wheels and tyres up in your part of the country, I would like to drive up and nobble both sets. Not that I have checked the for sale section of late. I have no money whatsoever, but I suppose I could re-mortgage the house. Things are moving fast. I had the idea to S2 something way back when I read Guy Croft say that he would love to do development but until someone came forward to pay for it, it would not happen. Or words to that effect - please correct me any time I am wrong. Then I saw the project thread of the French chap, who I must direct a comment or two to too, I love English. He has an electric power steering pump where I have mocked the blower. I plan to mount the blower with its back end facing the front of the car with an electric motor where the ABS unit lives. The whole thing could bolt to the chassis leg as there will be a lot more room when my wiring is done. An arrangement of valves is required, this could be very easy or very hard to do - I haven`t decided which way as yet. Electronic control over blower pressure governed by engine speed - or off. I may push this development hard, but I may decide not to bother, my motor has good boost from low revs as it is. Another chap is doing a 4 wheel drive version, I must comment there also. I can get ex F1 and Le Mans car brakes, uprights, drive shafts, electrics, dampers and all manner of hardware in fact. Prices may get cheaper too as my supplier has emailed me and may have responded well to the project. I will have to see the free stuff they are sending me this week. I just bet titanium nuts and washers are metal recycled as this is the most cost effective way of seeing a return - well not any more as I offered to buy them all. I know I said I would never post a link again. I am posting a link to you tube. The car at 45 seconds. I want my car to go like that, just look and sound better. Perhaps without the end of stage oil fire too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARvesNfkXAs&feature=share Oops, I have to get up for work soon.
