Hi all, Please see the below links for online applications to the various parts of this event. Runway Application - Motoring Demonstration Wheels Zone/Parade Application I would suggest Sunday this year. If that's ok with most? We can do both Saturday or Sunday or both if you wish. You can even camp overnight if you'd like? Just fill in the form for the nessesary day/s Please add your name down on the list below ONLY when you have completed an application. Due to last years issues of non inclusion of the club and it's cars, even after online applications having been completed. We will keep tabs on those who have applied and double check later that it is confirmed that we will be included. Motoring Demonstration Prices: Free, I think, no info, but historically so. Wheels Zone info:Wheels Zone & Parade Wings & Wheels are offering clubs the fantastic opportunity to show off your beautiful machines in a 1500m crowd line *grass parade before parking up in a dedicated Wheels Zone pitch. We’ll provide clubs with up to a 20m x 20m pitch where we want you to do the most imaginative and creative display with your vehicles. Awards will be made for the best displays and Wheels Zone participants are encouraged to promote their club, sell merchandise, display branded banners or flags and erect gazebos or marquees in order to make displays more appealing. Not part of a club? Then don’t worry you’re catered for too and will be positioned with other solo entries. You can join the Wheels Zone & Parade for up to £15 per participant and apply online here or for more information on the Wheels Zone & Parade please click here. To apply and pay by cheque please download a printable application here. (*please note the crowd line parade will be a low speed procession, on grass which requires a minimum 6inch ground clearance and has limited availability) Wheels Zone PricesBuy your tickets before 31st March 2015 and you can get them at the Early Bird rate with an extra 10% off. Ticket Type Advance Price On the Day Price Day Pass Early Bird Wheels Zone Adult (available until 31.3.15) £13.50 N/A Early Bird Wheels Zone Child (available until 31.3.15) £4.50 N/A Wheels Zone Adult £15.00 N/A Wheels Zone Child (5-15 years) £5.00 N/A Weekend Pass Early Bird Wheels Zone Adult (available until 31.3.15) £24.30 N/A Early Bird Wheels Zone Child (available until 31.3.15) £6.75 N/A Wheels Zone Adult £27.00 N/A Wheels Zone Child (5-15 years) £7.50 N/A Under 5's FREE If you have more than 3 occupants in your vehicle not including yourself, you will need to purchase additional ticket at the standard discount rate.

I have just received a newsletter from the organisers saying there will be demonstrations by two drifting teams.
Among them I noticed will be Elder81's brother Adam.

Not successful on the entry Dear fellow motoring enthusiast.
Many thanks for your application to run your vehicle on the Wings & Wheels Motoring Demonstration at Dunsfold Aerodrome this year. The response from people this year has been enormous, with over 420 applications received for both days.
These applications have now been reviewed, and in line with the Dunsfold Wings & Wheels team’s wish to provide a “crowd pleasing spectacle” we have made our selection from the line-up of vehicles offered to us. Due to the limited number of places on offer, we have been unable to accept everyone, and have tried to put together a good cross-section of vehicles of different makes and ages.
Unfortunately, due to the number of applicants and the selection process, we are unable to offer you a place on this year’s Motoring Demonstration. While we realise that you will be disappointed by this, we hope that you will understand the reasons why.
Your car is Usain Bolt with wellies

My reply.
They did not say which car the refusal was for. Even if they want the X1/9 it will not be going.
No, I neither understand nor accept your decision particularly following the debacle of last year.
I really cannot see why we should even bother to support your event.
Obviously our cars are not expensive enough to satisfy what seems to be the embedded snobbery in the Brooklands museum organisation.
I regret to say that I will not be renewing my Brooklands Trust membership next year.

Update:
After my last post I thought I would email them as I hadn't heard ( I also didn't hear when I originally sent off the application- and emailed for conformation.)
This is my reply:-
"Chris, good morning.
All the e-mails were sent out yesterday afternoon to the e-mail addresses we had on the original electronic applications. I can see now from checking yours that we did not have the 2 in the address, so I have amended it now. Your application was one of those that was accepted. The body of the message was as follows;
Dear fellow motoring enthusiast. Regards, Steve Castle."
So I have been accepted. If I find I can't or don't want to go, and despite the advice in his email, I would happyily give the opportunity to one of the others. Nearer the time I will know and post accordingly.

I have spoken to Emily Hooton about a Wheels zone space for the club. There are none left for Sunday and only 3 left for Saturday. I have asked her to keep one of those for us. Among other things I have mentioned the following in my email: There is a fundamental flaw in the way you and Brooklands Museum work together allocating spaces.
You ask participants to choose whether they would like to take part in the static or moving parts of the motoring show 5 whole months before the participants for the Motoring demonstration have been chosen by some secret formula by a group whose primary interest seems to be looking after, let us say, the”more traditional “ old car owners and their vehicles.
By delaying letting people know what the chosen few are this close to the event means that the two options effectively become mutually exclusive.
I would hope that you collectively can learn some lessons from this and perhaps make changes which will leave clubs able to put on a proper show irrespective of the runway run status

So do we boycott the event? I feel very let down too Having organised/suggested inclusion to this event for many years now, I am upset by the way it has been run, but it has always been this way, so you just accept its short comings and move on. It has only really been a headache since we started to do the runway run via Brooklands Museum which seem to have piss poor organisational skills that it has become a major problem One of the reasons for starting the RR's was FREE inclusion to the event. I take umbrage being a static display for their event and having to pay nearly full price for the privilege! Let the discussion continue.............

Maybe we should put a bid in for Manston airport and set up our own track day company but seriously I think this company are just taking the money and giving not a lot in return. Club events should be inclusive and not exclusively for those with a certain badge on the grille which is likely what we all are thinking. Should we boycott it? Depends on your strength of feeling and whether you were able to make the Saturday which Pete says is the only day free for a club wheels zone pitch. I can't make the Saturday anyway so it's a yes for me:)

My take on this is not so much that the runway run meant getting in free but that it provided a focus for us all to meet.
Without that, the possibility of having a central parking and meeting point is the difference between Wings and Wheels and any other combined air and car show.
The shame is that with their crappy system, by the time the chosen few are known, it is too late to do much about an alternative focal point.
With today's inflated cost to do anything, £15 a person for a day out among your mates is better than a £28 bought at the gate price, when it is completely a matter of chance whether you can find anyone even by pre-arrangement.
Bear in mind that, if you are into aircraft, this is about the last chance to see a Vulcan display here in the south.

So, the 3 spaces available for Saturday they are Club spaces I presume? I am possibly swayed to go, just for the last chance to see the Vulcan one more time. And the fact that I'm only 20 minutes away. I don't want to cut my nose off to spite my face! But I doubt I will bother putting my name down again for the runway run until they have a transparent and organised and system for application.

Yes they are club spaces Ross, I have told them there could be up to 10 of us.
As you say, there is no point in cutting your nose off to spite your face. The Vulcan swings it for me.

I now have confirmation that we have a club stand on the SATURDAY, we have asked for 8 places. I'm told that we have a good spot too. Tickets are £15 adult or £5 for Children aged 5 to 15 and under 5s are free. Order your tickets here: https://www.wingsandwheels.net/shop/tickets/wheels-zoneWhere it asks for the club name enter Fiat Coupe Club UK. To save last minute panics whether tickets have been sent, it will help Emily, who is doing her best to make up for our disappointment, if you can place your orders by 31st July. Wheels Zone & Parade: SATURDAY ONLY 1) Mark3009 - Sunday - Email received - Saturday? 2) Pondman - will attend, yet to apply 3) PeteP - Stand booked and tickets ordered. 1 + Mrs P & James.

So have tickets sold out, or will there be any available on the gate?
Just trying to decide when / if to go to Dunsfold or Rhyl to see the Vulcan one last time I think the ticket situation relates to the club getting a pitch on the inside, rather than just general entry

For all those going today, have a safe drive down. A bit late in the day, I know, but I think the access letter might have a typo! We usually have to be on site BEFORE the general public get access (09:00) not after! (9:45) as quoted I am aiming for 08:30-45 arrival time as per usual. I'd hate to be left out in the field I only looked at the letter last night as I'm that of sort or person
