I guess in 5 years we'll know just how much the lib dems were reigning back the more rabid ideas of the Tory party. I think history may judge Clegg a bit more sympathetically.....

On Clegg headstone it will say "he lied over tuition fees and made a pack with the devil(tories) " . People will never forgive or forget him for that and in my opinion he has been unfairly treated for it . How many politicians stick to their manifesto 100% and dont lie .

He was in coalition as a junior partner, of course he didn't deliver 100% of his manifesto.

He did deliver an AV referendum, a 10k starting rate of tax, free school meals for infants & same sex marriage..... The tuition fees will always be the stick he is beaten with though.

I do know that but liberal voter who voted for him cant grasp that idea ? I would not vote for him but i have listened to him on LBC "call Clegg" with Nick Ferrari and he seemed like a decent guy .

I think the tuition fee increase is a good thing, I hope they go up another 100%.

From reading a few news articles the lib dems saved us from a few stupid tory plans. May be interesting to.see what happens.

Hope not! my kids don't deserve to bear the brunt of this new government and the previous shower of shit coalition and probably the one before that and before that! etc. etc.
What have they done to screw this country! Absolutely nothing it's all the previous golden generations that should look at themselves and feel ashamed that they have taken so much out of this country in some cases more than they have ever contributed!
You can't just keep turning over the next batch of kids because most will just end up leaving this country to go somewhere better and leave behind all the greedy rotten people to just screw each other!!

Kids don't deserve to be sold a dream of a degree that has nil value in the real world. Far too many go to uni, get a qualification and come out as lazy sods believing they are now owed a high paid job doing jack.
If you go to uni what you are studying should be of benefit and hence your degree course should pay itself back through a good job and salary. I have 3 children and I don't have any desire for any to go to uni unless that's the only way to get into the career they want (doctor, vet, teacher etc) I certainly don't want them doing sociology with media studies, getting a large loan then going to work in a contact centre or McDonald's.

As for the golden generation, it was the government that messed up along with idiots wanting ever bigger loans and mortgages.

I understand your sentiments and would never encourage my kids to go to uni unless it was for a serious career degree path, but if our kids don't get degrees then all the jobs will go to foreigners with degrees! Then the only jobs left will be the ones nobody wants to do!
Companies now expect stupidly high qualifications for such simple jobs!
Education should not just be for the elite/wealthy it should be for the brightest kids too regardless of background
I would support higher entry levels but that's about it!!

very true . I encouraged my son who is currently taking his gcse's and heading for straight A's to take English, IT and Business studies for his A'levls, followed by probably a degree in Business Management. Something that should benefit him in a working environment. Both my brothers did degrees, one in American history and the other in Geography, both of which are of no use in their current jobs !

I'll get free food if I marry a bloke? cool!

If you mean children, then who knows. I'm sure they're not disabled or earn any less just because they got on the wrong bus.
