What a day, well done Bell, just wish it was a ton.
200 lead would give us a great chance to win this game.

Lovely pitch to suit our seamers; particularly pleased to see Finn making inroads.

Very pleased for Finn; wouldn't it be brilliant if he could be our Mitchell Johnson - great potential beset by problems with his action and his mind, only to blossom into the potent strike bowler he should be. Well, I can dream, but I'm dead chuffed for the boy.
Hopefully a few batsmen can hang around in the warmer and drier conditions today to make the Aussies toil a bit. As said, England need a lead of at least 200 to make a win a possibility.

Still can't quite believe yesterday's performance...

Well it's been an interesting and absorbing day so far. Great early bowling from Johnson, excellent batting from Ali and Broad and now a welcome wicket from Finn.

With my standard England supporter pessimist's hat on, the worst case is that the Australian tail wags to give them a lead of 180 and we then bottle the chase in a clatter of unnecessary wickets.

Other than that, surely England will be 2-1 up by tonight?

Great call on the tickets, buzzer. If I wasn't going to a family wedding today, I'd have been very tempted to join you. Enjoy yourself!

Well, from an England fan's point of view, that was pretty bloody good. Anderson's injury is a major blow to winning back the Ashes in Nottingham, but if we can do it, it will speak volumes about the side.

Not having live tv coverage of this I can't wait for Ch5 highlights just to see this better-than-everever Stokes catch - seems like all the catching has been super-smart just to underline the old catches/matches adage.

Oh Jimmy A., wherefore art thou!

This score is in danger of eclipsing England's 46 in the W.I.....

From Sam Sheringham on BBC text

Phrases overheard at the Trent Bridge urinals: "Is this really happening?", "Best day ever", "I've never seen the like of this in all my days", and "anyone got plans for tomorrow?"

I give up!

So how is the Aussie attack going to take advantage of this for the 30 minutes England bat before lunch? Johnson and Starc have to be eyeing this up.

First innings lead by 2.00 pm?
