After giving up my 20v turbo a few months ago i got a twinge when a cheap mot fail one came up locally,150 bucks and he'll bring it to my house.
Problem is the mot fail list includes subframe to chassis corrosion and seat belt anchor area.Other bits it failed on just typical brake stuff, not a problem.
So,i do my own welding but just wondering how difficult,or worthwhile these areas are to do?How bad 'can' they be?Thanks!!

Are you a member of Faceache?

If you are click on the link below my avatar and have a look at the project files in albums
There are many pictures showing typical corrosion issues, locations and the repairs.

I am on Faceache but by the time i had the relative photos found i had the car bought lol.£150 and he brought it to me,drives way smoother than my turbo did,i dont mean engine wise, just feels in this one my tyres aren't made out of wood and theres some suspension feeling with this car!! ;-)
So,happy days.Once i get my Morris Traveller arsed it will be onto this one!

Well done Robbo.
I just love a bargain Coupe.
At £150 it'll make a lovely looking outside store if the rust is terminal.
What colour, year is it?

No such thing as terminal rust,i currently have an r5 that was beyond the beyond with rust and is now mot'd,and I'm restoring, well, building a morris traveller from the ground up!!I laugh in the face of rust,i tweak the ear of metal fatigue!!
So you think paying £150 for a car is a joke and I'm clearly quite stupid for buying it?Full service history, about 12 old mot,s,bag of receipts.I think it's quite a sound buy myself, rust the same as the 20v turbo I had, welded all that and that car cost me £1300!!So £150 easily provides me with a bit of leeway I think.

Not every one has the nerve or experience to deal with corrosion, in fact some owners actually loose sleep thinking about the rust bug eating their pride and joy sick

'kinell Robbo, calm down. I think the opposite. I've been trying to buy an S plate na rusting away on a nearby drive since I sold my vis but the bloke told me Saturday that he's going to repair it himself now.
I'm still looking at a £300 gtv that needs work.
You asked how bad the rust could be. I thought that it was worth a go at £150 cos that's what I'd have done given the chance.
Any chance of some pics?
