Hey crew,
Does anyone know if you can get replacement silver bullet keys and if they can be programmed or do I need to replace every lock to do so? I have the original red key but the silver one was stolen from my other vehicle last night :-(
Cheers

Shootsoon, Just get a locksmith to cut the new key and if you have the Red Key it is less than a 30 second job for you to reprogramme all the keys.
If you don't know how to do it, just send me a PM and I'll explain it for you.

Hi people, sorry to revive a thread from the dead but does anyone know if I bought a silver key from ebay that's off another coupe if I could get it reprogrammed and cut to match my coupe? I have an Irish model with the code card instead of the red key. I only have one replacement Timpsons key, and would love to get a silver one (miss them from my other Coupe's). Thanks in advance. DM

Aye, the key blade pulls out, may need a vice to hold it, the silver shark should pull off, may need a tap with a hammer. This will release the blue plastic insert, inside that is the code device.

The pics in the "how to" are gone so have uploaded them again here with the original comments. OK, I had a go with another spare key I had. First I tried holding the rear metal part in the vice and pulling on the long key part with pliers... no luck. Then tried locking mole grips onto the key part and it still wouldn't budge even with a lot of force. So a slight change of plan... locked the long key part in the vice and hit the rear metal part with a BIG hammer and after 2 good hits it separated them OK. A few pics to show how it locks together: as you can see the blue plastic bit goes around the long key part (3rd pic), so it's not possible to remove the plastic bit without breaking it unless the metal key part is removed first.

Hi Graham,
Unfortunately that's the easy part. Now you have to find a blade that fits as the old one cannot be re-cut.
If you want to sell your old one id be happy to buy it btw as I wish to use it as a template.

BTW some people (especially on here) claim to sell the key and blades but the blades don't fit they are glued in and too short.
They tend not to mention that part

Hi people, sorry to revive a thread from the dead but does anyone know if I bought a silver key from ebay that's off another coupe if I could get it reprogrammed and cut to match my coupe? The key chips can't be re-programmed but the chip can be removed and a new one inserted to replace it. Very unlikely the key part could be re-cut to fit another coupe and the blank parts are no longer available from Fiat, so unless you had one custom made or found some old stock somewhere the normal solution is to replace all the keys/locks/ecu set with a full working set from a donor coupe. There was a guy from Poland selling blank silver keys in "Parts for Sale" recently, so worth checking that out.

In the absence of blanks, you could perhaps get a new blue key cut (e.g. Timpsons), and take that apart to get the key blade to put into your silver key housing.
If the rear (possibly silver key specific?) portion is different, then you could probably get a friendly locksmith to use their cutting machine to cut the rear section from the new blue key to match the silver key (so long as that part of the new key blade is long enough, which I guess is an unknown...)

The blanks for the red and blue keys are different at the back (and shorter) than the silver key so not suitable for cutting a new silver key as it wouldn't be long enough to secure the rear clip on the blue plastic part.

I can concur. 100%. Has to be from the silver key. If anyone has an old one then let’s work together to get some blanks made.

Well I found one silver key but I broke it trying to separate the key part so that one's in the bin as well now. Will see if I can find another.

I used an ordinary non-immobiliser FIAT key, had it re-cut at my local key place in Chepstow, cut the plastic cover off. Had to do a bit of filing of the blade, but it fitted the silver shark, holds the immobiliser plastic bit in place. I used a spare silver shark key that Joe had, as our original was lost when Gina's bag was pinched. Re-programmed the immobiliser for the new key with the red key.

Hey,
When you say you used a spare silver shark key do you mean as a template for the silver shark end of the newly cut ordinary FIAT key?

Nah, needed a Silver key as Gina's was lost, Joe provided another I removed the key blade, stuck the blade in the vice, knocked the shark end of with a well aimed hammer blow
