I like my 2013 XF Sportbrake, so much so that I don't have any pictures of it As to whether it's better than the saloon, hmmm, maybe?

Back in the day I used to be able to get a cement mixer in the back of my Citroen GS Estate

Times were hard then Pete... Not really Simon. It was a home market 1220cc version that I bought at 6 months old and 6000 kms when I lived in SW France. I even brought it back to the UK and used it for 7 years when we returned here. I had it for almost 10 years and 290000kms without anything major going wrong, A new clutch at 180000kms was about it and NO RUST. Very comfortable seats and ride quality

MG ZTT - had a 1.8T for almost 10 years which virtually gave faultless service. Drove the ZT V6's at work and although not a direct comparison I thought the estate version handled better, looked the better car and obviously had the additional load flexibility.
Alfa 156 / 159 estates. Never driven either but good looking cars compared to their saloon version and the general opinion was certainly the 156 estate handled better.
