I remember reading on the dead forum about someone who was importing turbo's at quite good prices. Does anyone have the info? It wasn't really relevant to me at the time, but since my turbo is knackered I though a nice upgrade (to cheer me up) would be nice lol

EDIT - found this http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=11931&an=0&page=0#Post11931

Bad news on the coop Kelly but happy to offer a tow to where u want it if you need it

I have a list on my PC at home of everything you need, and including the exhaust flange it comes to about 580 ish But Jamie may make one up for you our of steel if you want instead of alu like the ATP one but not sure how much they cost as i think turbo technics ask for £100 for theirs which works out a wee bit more than the ATP one....

ATP turbos in the states can be contacted directly. Also Apex performance import them here to the UK but the price is higher.
Barbz can also supply them from turbodynamics.

Can Barbz supply the GT28R with all the bits for £580 delivered though Joe

I think its a few hundred £££ from Barbz but depends on how you are with the warranty, with the issues ive had with GP turbos and knowning a roller bearing unit is pretty good if it comes down to it they will blame it on fitting anyways...

Thanks guys Will, can you email me your list when you're home next? k3llyj@gmail.com

If you've got the price for the GT28RS and fittings that would be good

Would help if I knew anything about turbo's - all a learning curve I guess!

List sent with all the bits you need for the GT28R, not sure on the RS but i think it has a different inlet so you need a rubber adapter flange for it to fit properly but would need to do a check later but someeone may post up before then i reckon as we are all kind souls

Also the only differences are really how much power you want to run and what kinda driving you do, if your not after big power and want to remain near standard the 28r is the way to go with spoolup and the like but the 28rs is the one to go for in the bigger housing if you want to go for big power but suffer with lag and spool up.

Got the mail - thanks! Seems the R will run up to 300bhp comfortably so that will do me for now, and little spool-up and lag sounds good to me, the hybrid on it at the mo isn't too great.

Think i'll be ordering tomorrow, just need the trusty visa card with me lol

all in i think it works out about £580ish from the states with ALL the bits you need including outlet flange for the exhaust housing and shipping here.

You may get stung for some tax when it gets here btu this varies depending on the company used to ship it as fed-ex seem to be the worst for stinging people...

£580 is a good price for the unit and all the bits you need to fit it.
Does that include the oil feed pipe?

Also does anyone know how much the specialists would charge for fitting?

cheers

Im not sure as not checked thru the parts list but i think thats not going to be much more if needed.

I think there is an adapter on my list actualy which allows you to use all the std bits

£2-400 is a ball park figure, although its not the worse job in the world to do, really just a bolt off, bolt on affair, bit like giant Meccano!

Thanks DoctorFrag, so i would be looking at anywhere between £800-£1000 fitted if i order the unit from ATP and order all the parts i need.

Does anyone know how much Barbz charges supply and fit?

Sorry about all the questions, just looking for the most viable path.

Thanks

According to his pricelist, Barbz quotes £1230 supply and fit.

I'd speak to Rog @ powerfiat (rog20vt on here) for a quote on fitting an imported one.

are barbz's turbos (GTiR and t28) a direct replacment for standard turbo? i.e no adaptor plates etc.

The GTiR and T28 should be direct replacements as they are only hybrids and not a GT series roller bearing turbo...

Yep all the T28 hybrids bolt onto the exhaust manifold and the downpipe exactly the same as normal, same fittings (oil feed etc)
The GT series roller bearings all fit on the exhaust manifold easily, just they need an adaptor to fit onto the standard downpipe, and a few minor bits and bobs for the oil feeds etc

Has anyone with Aircon managed to using the Vband adapter at all??

Just wondering about this as looking at it it may be easier to get a new downpipe made up, as per jamies reccomendation it would be an extremely tight fit...

pleb i think maybe you are a bit confused it's 580 with all the bits apart from the exhaust housing flange which you will need to buy from td for about 100 also Kelly the 28r is not much better performance wise than a hybrid the unit is better though as it will last allot longer see here for all the parts you will need

Now after extensive talking youve really got a choice when it comes to the exhaust. Get a new downpipe and bit made up or go for teh adapter.. The adapter of course may be a tight fit as its a bit longer so pushing the exhaust more towards the alternator/compressor area...

Or the new downpipe route would mean a good bit better spool up and less restriction for the exhaust flow and mean a bit more of a mean sound for anyone with a catback system thus far

I think i may go the 2nd option as the money saved on the flange can go towards the new downpipe..

you dont need the 45 fitting as the oil drain will fit back ok onto the original fitting also if you are getting the RS you will need a boost nipple to connect the pipe to from the EBV/PRV, the R has this tapped into the compressor flange.

Ok prices are....
$982.95 => £564.91 With exhaust flange adapter
OR
$887.95 => £510.31 without....

Im pretty sure i have an email somewhere stating that for the above Turbo and stuff ATP will ship it for free

I can give you my email address or can email them back and ask them if this is open to anyone from the club or if it was a one time offer for me.

Dont think they have any warranty issues to worry about either as roller bearings are pretty good units and i havent heard of one failing other than JohnS who just blows things apart anyways....

Please note in the list above you will not see an inlet flange as you can opt to have a standard T25 inlet so you can simply get a cheap silicone pipe to fit this section, i believe barbz does them and sfs and silicone hose type places

Hope that helps a few of you but should allow full bolton fitment. I have seen mention of use of an oil feed pipe but i think this can be purchased instead of one of the adapter plates if you wish to change teh std fiat oe bit from the block to the turbo instead as im sure its the actual Oil Feed pipe Which you can also buy on their site but im not sure which one it is
