Price for colour matching a bonnet? #201478

Had a bit of bad news as regards my recent vandlism to my car. Apparently the damage to the bonnet is non reverable as the metal has stretched Although it doesn't look too bad, I think it spoils the look of the front.

So, anyone no how much it would cost to colour match a bonnet, bearing in mind getting a bonnet the right colour is impossible.

Sorry to hear about the bad news.

Colour matching the bonnet will be difficult. You will find that they will have to "blend" other panels so it isn't so noticable due to age/fading.

If you can stomach the bonnet being a different colour, will save you some money. If it is an insurance job then insist that the sides are blended in.

Onle last alternative, give CarlT a call and see if he has one in your colour. Go and see him and see if the match will be closer, you never know!

What they mean is that they don't have any one skilled enough to repair the bonnet, or are not prepared to spend the time doing it.

In the days before resin fillers, one of the essential skills of any panel beater was shrinking stretched metal.

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

Nah nah the match will be easy, around 150 for a bonnet prep and paint.

If your having to blend everywhere somethings not right!

Hear Hear! They don't want to spend any time on repairs today. Everything has a time limit after which there is no money to be made so they are not interested

What colour is it? Some colours are easier to match than others.

On Scotts green for example I have ordered skirts etc. pre-sprayed without any issues at all - colour match is spot on.

I think my car has had a new bonnet before I owned it - if you look carefully it's a SLIGHTLY different colour. However ask anyone on here if they've ever noticed it any way - I bet they haven't.

You only really have to worry about colour matching on a whole pannel, ie. where there is no form of 'line' which allows the light to change the colour anyway. Hence you could not colour match part of a bonnet - but spraying the whole bonnet should not be an issue.

Its spirit blue (the car).

I'm contemplating getting another colour from carlt and matching. Alternaively, I could wait for the right colour.

I apprieciate I may be waiting some time

Problem with sprint blue is that the colour can fade - even if you get a sprint blue bonnet from somewhere chances are it wont match properly.

Probably a bit late for that TBH Carl.

After 2 places told me irrepairable, I let my old man loose on to just get it looking better until I could get it sorted

yes I know that was stupid, but I thought I had nothing to loose. So I guess its proper messed up now.

Let me know who you get on with the bonnet mate.

I'm unsure whether i need a new bonnet or if mine can be repaired. The previous owner hit a van and never got it repaired. I have a nasty feeling that i'm doing to need a new bonnet.

Whereabouts in Herts have you tried?
