Gappy or Tight? #208092

The bonnet edge where it meets the bumper next to the indicators.

When I first became interested in this car in 95 I noticed that the official press library pictures varied... I couldn't figure why ... some cars looked meaner at the front than others.

On closer inspection I realised that it was to do with the shut line in this area.

They vary so much... why?

My first coup was tight, until my neighbour smashed it up and it was repaired. I was then left with a gap that I could put my finger in.

My latest coop is also gappy. I cannot see how this gap can be closed looking at the shut line between the bonnet and doors. This would mean lifting the bumper up slightly.

Having a gap is not a bad thing though... I think it makes the car look meaner although not so aesthetically pleasing as a tight fit.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes i gave it a lot of attention when repairing my coupe which was a damage repairable, I used the show us your motors thread for hours looking at the bonnet over the grill and fog/ind/side lights and at the slashes over the front wheels this indicates the height between bumper and bonnet. so long as the slash finished in a point I was happy. as the bonnet has a piece of rubber on its front edge that should connect with the bumper. I have just fitted my new bonnet and it really hoods the ind/fog and grill assembly. I have seen what you mean some look tighter than others. might be to do with modded bumpers etc...

its easy to adjust, the corner bumper supports where the bonnet adjuster also sits are stupidly adjustable.

iirc you can adjust the front height of the bonnet 30mm
