Whats the magnetic attraction of Tesco's carpark and halfwits in 4x4's?? had to park there yesterday. Left the Coupe so far from the doors /trolly stand that I needed a bus to get to the exit. Car sitting in splendid isolation. Came back 2 hours later and there's now a Suzuki jeep parked so close I had to climb in the passenger side..and a nice dent in the door that wasn't there 2 hours before. No other cars within 30 yds..Felt like kicking some holes in the Jeep but what the FCCUK, just went home in despair.

Yeah, that really annoys me

Why do people feel the need to park right next to you when there's loads of other empty spaces they could park in.

I shop at Tesco and purposely go there about 8pm onwards during the week, so I can park away from everyone else.

This is regardless of what car I'm in.

This is all so true. My brother works at Tescos in my town and within the fisrt 6 months his car looked like it had been used as target practice by yobs with air rifles. It has so many dings. Why are people so ignorant about this! They need a damn good birching!

You just cant get on our Tesco car park nowadays. It's completely chokka people have to park on the paved areas or just alongside designar=ted a=parking bays as there's simply no room. I wont go in the coop any more

What really bugs me is, as is Skodamans case, how you can park miles away from anyone at the back of the car park yet when you get back there is always a car parked next to you

Happens all the time to me aswell. I tend to stay with my car and let family do the shop.... otherwise some muppet will stick his old corsa, nova etc and make a nice mark down the side.

I hate this, i allways say to the misses if there's any marks i'll return the favior tyres would be a good starting place as 4x4 owners don't care about things like scratches and dents, not puncture them but let 2 down

Think they call it "hearding", people see a parked car and can't help but park next to it.
Plus there is the thought that if they park next to a car nicer than theirs then the nicer car is more likely to get nicked!!

I know the feeling I park at the far corner in Tescos with no other cars about and there always a 50/50 chance some twat with a corsa/astra has chosen to park tight up to me and done a door mark, even though there 20 spaces closer to the entrance of Tesco WTF

Tesco in Banbury is a big no no for me 3 times i've had to blast my horn at Ford Focus drivers, they just keep reversing straight towards me.
But they always try to blame me, i'm stationary they aren't looking where they're going blast the horn makes them turn around (the way the car is going) but i'm in the wrong.
It's like i've got a target on the side.

The worst thing about my local Tescos in Dumfries is the trolleys don`t have those £1 coin locks so the lazy buggers just leave them lying about everywhere . So now when i park in Tescos as well as parking at the far end of the car park i also have to make sure i`m at the top of a gradient so the trolleys trundle away from me when they`re abandoned .

Baz, I had a nasty experience in Asda Carlisle thanks to their policy of not having the pound coin trolleys. Watched in horror as the wind caught a trolley and blew it into the side of the Leon The store offered £50 as a "gesture of goodwill" towards the cost of a new wing and painting.........

Trolleys can pick up a good head of speed when caught by wind, remember when I worked at B&Q was collecting trolleys one evening, it was very windy, one got caught by a gust of wind and it was off!! A MK4 escort stopped it though!!
I can remember when our local tesco first opened there was a load of compensation paid because the bollards they put up where too small and people couldn't see them over their bonnets resulting in loads of bashed bumpers, they ended up replacing all the bollards!!

and also a fair chance that a proper disabled person can't park there and will have to walk further, but I am pleased your car is OK!

Besides the moral issues your car would still be at a high risk from dings by parking in a disabled bay due to wayward walking sticks and wheelchair maneuvering .

We recently went to a cinema and parked our second car (Ka) in the car park. 250 space car park, 2 cars in it. We came out and the usual 'family' 4X4 scruffy piece of crap had parked within 12" of the Ka and the grotty kids had left a nice dent.

Leaving an admission of causing criminal damage on a public forum is hardly sensible, I feel.

When I go shipping in the coop I take the sister-in-law’s little girl so I can park in a mother and child space

All it cost's me is a packet of jelly baby’s.

Well its not really hard to work out when someone has dinged your car. My red Coupe was parked in a hotel car park once, ding free. I come out in the morning and a brand new black Range Rover is parked about 12" away. I now have a 1" dent in the rear wing, with black colouring, which lines up exactly with the rear door of the Range Rover.

You don't have to be Inspector Clouseau to work it out. I left a polite note to contact me, with my phone number. Guess what. Nothing.

Maybe you could have asked at the hotel reception? Still no excuse for deliberately keying someone else's car ...I am pretty sure the occupant of the brand new range rover didn't do it on purpose - accidents do happen ultimately, it's rubbish but hey

I didn't key it - I left a note with my number to ring so that we could discuss it.

I agree that where kids are concerned, accidents happen, but the nature of this dent was such that the door must have opened with some force onto my car.

I checked at reception too, but no luck and no record of who owned the car.

It just comes down to people being considerate, and thinking about how and where they are parking.

You recognise that then.

As for the range rover, you could have taken the number and contacted the dvla for the details, or waited for them, or lots of things. But ultimately, its only a car made of metal, its not the worse thing in the world to get a dent.

My brother and me were once sat in his old car in the local shop's car park waiting for his girlfriend who was in the newsagent...some huge people carrier pulls in next to us, mum driving, kid in passenger seat and one other kid in back on same side...both kids race out of the car for some reason, flinging their doors open which both bang into Brother's car...the mother says nothing to them, despite the fact she's clearly seen it and when my brother gets outs to look at his doors and says something to her she replies "its a pile of old junk anyway so what does it matter?" and walks off...Think we both just stared at each other a little confused...

...end of the day, you'll never compete with the logic of some mother and her spoiled kids. In these days of selfish 4x4 driving parents, its even worse!

Agreed. But when the dent is caused by plain old inconsideration rather than an unavoidable accident, isn't it right that the considerate car enthusiast fought back just a little?

Contacting the DVLA is going to achieve sweet FA, and waiting for the owner to return will only lead to be a victim to their agression whether verbal or physical.

Do we just accept that the spoilt, agressive few can damage our cars without a care in the world?

Sometimes the aggro of confronting the guy/girl who did the damage isn't worth it. I posted on this last night and deleted it.

Had a new BMW bike years ago and watched 3 slobs do their best to trash it in a carpark. When confronted it got very interesting and 4 people got arrested for public order offences. Spent the night in the cells and more when back in barracks..cost me my corporal's tapes and delayed promotion to Sergeant by 6 months..

Sometimes its just not worth it.

In response to the original post - I posted this picture on here some time ago. I went to Toys r Us one evening to buy my niece a birthday present. Parked away from the door, and away from any other vehicle of any description, came out 15 minutes later to find this. OK, not a 4x4, but why? WHY?? Fcukwits.......

I shouldn't tempt fate but the coupe over here seems to get the opposite reaction and people are very careful around it. As we have smaller spaces in most carparks and I've never had a mark on it that I've seen. The cherokee I used to own would pick up 1 dent every couple of months even to the point where some [***] wit opened the door hard enough to leave paint and a nice dent. Just lucky they had left the carpark before I got back or i would have waited and had a word, and yes I do now which car did it wish I had waited until they got out before I left it.

Arghhhhh ! This makes my Blood boil ! People are so Fcukking inconsiderate !

After having previous cars damaged by people in car parks, now im one of those annoying twats who parks over 2 spaces or parent and child i have no shame! its just the only way you stand a chance of keeping your car in reasonable condtion

Picture this,a few months ago on a sunny summer evening went down to parkgate nr neston for an ice cream with the Girlfriend parked on the road outside the shop no cars in front or behind for 20 metres.

walked across road to shop purchased 2 mint choc chip walk outside (gone 3 mins max) to find some white van parked on my back bumper could not believe it waited in car for the twat to come back for a while no one did, took reg etc piccys checked over when i got back only few fine scratches on back which did polish out.

Its probably a good job the driver never came back.

Rant over !!!!!.....

Who was the guy that was in a supermarket, had his door bumped by a child, he said something to the lady and she proceeded to tell him to bog off. Only for this irrate coupe owner / debt collector to turn up at her door and get money to fix it even though the car was a 4x4 and not even her's?

Go to costco. They have the right idea. They leave space for the doors to open and for you to load and unload. I park between 2 spaces most places and i dont care what anyone says.
