Disconnecting is only to check the base boost,

You should see 1.20 to 1.45bar when the ebv is connected and that will only be max boost as the turbo peeks, then it will drop as the revs increase, prob to 0.80bar or less at red line, as the engine rpm increases the turbo pressure drops alot in some cases

I see max boost around 3200rpm but hold more boost up to the red line as i have a blitz controller and a hybrid turbo.

You should have full 1.45bar boost at 3500/3750rpm

pfoe,

are you _absolutely_sure_ that the three pipes to the ebv are in the right order?
Asuming you'll get the top one right (even removing all three you'll easily spot the one turning by itself downwards...) swap the two at the bottom and see what happens (it can only get better from where you stand )

If it has been quicker before, I'd have thought it's wrong piping, if the car feels the same as before, you have to do something for your ebv.

hmm i havent physically disconnected the vacuum hoses or whatever they are to the EBV so they should be in the correct order. It hasnt been quicker, it just feels normalish

As paulinho says it should peak at those revs as mine does, it must be the ebv if youv'e not disturbed it before. the performance is so different from std it has so much more torque. 290lb ft I think. Can anyone tell me what the std torque is in lb ft? Hope you get it sorted soon, it's a hoot to drive!!

Sorry to hi-jack this thread,

I'm driving a 16VT and tempted to install the EVO chip again. The chip is an EVO one all right, fine piece of engine management tuning, but it makes the engine run verry verry lean between 3500 and 5000 rpm, lambda reading is 1,15 and no Co left!!. Don't get me wrong, it's not doing it when accelerating slowly or full acceleration, those readings are fine, but running at fixed rpm lets say 4000rpm is scaring! Anyone familiar with this?

Paulinho, can i send you a copy of the chip in order for you to see if it's the same one you sell?

with my chip from paulinho, i'm over fuelling and trying to rectify it. I rather be over then under fuelling.

Yep, me too, fueling is perfect only not in certain rpms and only at fixed engine rpms (no accelerating)

so the resolution is just to keep accelerating!!!!

Guess so
Just wondering if this is common with the EVO chip as lambda 1,10 and no CO are not really safe for the engine.

Just give it a try. If the boost is too low, then either the pipes to the boost controller are connected wrong or the boost valve doesn't work.

Maybe connect the pipe from the boost source to the actuator for a second, just to feel the difference

I have the evo chip and am running 11:1 AFR throughout the rev range - so quite rich but not OTT (and I run the 3 bar FPR)

Pfoe - changing the FPR won't fix your problem - you either need to get the EBV working by WD40 method or find a replacment (otherwise get a PRV or electronic boost controller)

The new Chip has the cold start issues sorted I'm told but the actual boost maps haven't changed much I don't think (paulo may correct me)

It's a good bit of kit for the dollars and while you should always get a RR after fitting in my experience of talking to owners it nearly always runs on the rich side of the scale. Like Flameon said - better to be rich than lean

Cheers

Saint,
the chip is running fine and on the rich side troughout the scale, but it leans out all of a sudden when reaching 3500-5000 rpm without load. Fuel pressure is standard and i don't have an adjustable FPR available at the moment, but the sudden drop seems strange. Anyone that did a RR at fixed engine RPMS and no load?

p.s. I was doing fine with my stock ECU untill i started reading this bl**dy forum . I hope lightning strikes my PC soon!!

Dink---> Sure, i can test it for you
pipcars---> Tell me about cold starts please ... what do you feel diferent?
pfoe---> something must be wrong on your EBV or wastegate cause 7psi is veeerrrry low, also tell me about the funny idle.

funny idle is it keeps dipping to sort of below 800rpm by approx 1-200rpm (possibly due to the lack of 3bar fpr?) i honestly dont know how to check my EBV my car has suffered front end damage in the past so i presume it must have been replaced with a new one, quite whether it was replaced correctly i dunno!

Having recieved my new Chip today and fitting it up tonight here are my early findings

Well it's better, Cheers

Now - must start by thanking Paulinho for all his work on this. First thing to note was V2 on the chip which is a good move so that in the future it will be easy to tell which ones are which.

No drama's in fitting, in fact all done in 45mins or so. After fitting I fired the car up, first thing to note was no stall - normally the car would stall once or twice at least about 10secs after startup. There was a intail surge in revs but it soon settled back to 1200rpm - higher than the 1000rpm it used to idle at when cold with the old chip

First major change I noticed was the smooth (factory like) idle. With the old chip the car would burble quite lot like it had big cams and sidedrafts - a bit of spitting and the like was normal but not with the new chip, it just settled at 1200rpm and stayed there solid.

I didn't run the car long enough to get up to temp but I am hoping that the revs will drop back once warm

Paulo, it is only the idle that you changed - was that burble caused by it being too rich with the old chip? and it was only the idle parameters that were changed?

Anyway - so far excellent, not going to run off to the RR if the boost maps are the same so someone else can post on that but a great upgrade to fix the idle issues

Cheers Paulo

Hi, Cold start, no issue, injector light stays on longer, and a slight uneveness but no stalling and perfect factory like drive from cold. I have had today for the first time some hesitation on full boost between 3500-4000 rpm, could this be the plugs as I still have std ones in?

awww heeelllpp, just took my car out for a drive. started fine in the freezin cold, felt as tho it was gonna stall once during the first 2 minutes of warmup. took it for a spin, still only getting 7psi of boost so gonna try electrically cleaning the ebv 2moro. to top it off i got that "cutting out" sensation at low revs in second. absolutely sweet, not. Anyone any suggestions, could it be i need a 3bar fpr as well as a new EBV? only had her 2 months and now shes ill

If you have base boost all the time, maybe it´s because the ECU is detecting some error and it´s running in "safe-mode"

Do you have the injection light on all times?

Pfoe, change back to the original chip and see if you have the same problem. Maybe something is wrong with the Evo chip.

pfoe- how low is "low revs" for cut out once warm that you are experiencing?

I've been driving mine all day today and no problems to note but I have had a litle surging down low - like crusing down the main street at 1500rpm in 3rd etc - not out of the ordinary though I wouldn't have thought?
