...list of things to do to your Coupe, that is

I'm slowly ticking things off my list, but new things keep appearing. The Forth bridge kinda springs to mind

Separate into "Essential", "Later" and "Maybe one day"

Mine:-

Essential:

Camcover oil leak
Phase sensor
Fit replacement front discs and have my wobbly ones skimmed
Power Steering pump
Backbox bracket
Wishbone polybushes

Later:

Track rod ends
Lower subframe brace (needs a new one, current one is bent and bashed)
Balance wheels
Overhaul front calipers
Fit replacement seats

Maybe one day:

Brake cooling ducts
Intercooler water spray
respray
New carpet
Remove, de-squeak, and refit headlining
HIDs

I'm sure this list will grow before the end of the day, as I remember stuff

How long is your list?

I'll just start with the stuff to get the car moving again:

Fit new drop links
Fit new accelerator cable
Fit new clutch slave cylinder
Bleed brakes and clutch
New windscreen
Refit interior

Then onto the parts in my parts room. (Used to be called my bedroom but this is more appropriate now)

New handbrake cables
Aquamist
Tarox big rear brakes
C&B cams
Sub, amp plus cabling
Sound deadening stuff
Polish and fit plenum
Alloy oil filler cap
New spark plugs
Interior (again)

Plus a big long list of stuff that i cant even remember that needs doing. Think i better organise some time off work.

Essential:

Get it out of the garage and drive the damn thing

Later:

See above

Maybe one day:

fit the widget I bought for it, and see above

TBH, there's a heap of things that it would be nice to do, but I can't be bothered doing any of them! I don't see the point anymore, they'd annoy me if I drove it every day, but as it's main job is to gather dust then it doesn't!

I did treat it to a battery charger/maintainer today, as on the odd occasion I do actually want to drive the damn thing the battery is always flat.

Then again every Escort Cosworth owner will swear blind that its the fastest car on road. Even tho my old posey 330Ci Convertible would keep up with one quite comfortably!

New Radiator - done
Engine and Gearbox Oil change - done
New Manifold - have two repaired manifolds yet to fit crazy
New Radiator - done
Fit replacement front bumper - done

Later:

Modify top engine mount - done
Re-furb spare set of wheels and fit with new tyres -done
Fit Pace SMIC - cancelled as decided to stay standard

Maybe one day:

Re-furb front and rear callipers - rears done
Replace carpet and fit sound proofing underneath - done
Add sound deadening to the inside door skins -done
Fit rear quarter interior lights - still on list
Replace all interior bulbs with LED brighter ones- cancelled
Replace centre console bulbs with Red LEDs - done
Front bumper, lips, skirts and bonnet re-spray - not yet
Have the rear bumper colour coded - cancelled
Car moped at a good bodyshop - cancelled

Would love to do but know I won’t as I may as well get a plus:

Fit Recarros - cancelled
White dials in dash - done but went back to black
6 speed box - still on the list

And again there is a list of things I will have forgotten

John <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

Some real blasts from the past but how many people have done anyhing on their list?

Of course I have loads more to add to the list now but also loads that I have done that were not on this list, such as new front and rear suspension components.

John

Separate into "Essential", "Later" and "Maybe one day"

Mine:-

Essential:

Camcover oil leak
Phase sensor
Fit replacement front discs and have my wobbly ones skimmed
Power Steering pump
Backbox bracket
Wishbone polybushes

Later:

Track rod ends
Lower subframe brace (needs a new one, current one is bent and bashed)
Balance wheels
Overhaul front calipers
Fit replacement seats

Maybe one day:

Brake cooling ducts
Intercooler water spray
respray
New carpet
Remove, de-squeak, and refit headlining
HIDs

I'm sure this list will grow before the end of the day, as I remember stuff

How long is your list?

Hmmm - I managed ALL the stuff on the Essential AND the Later list. Never got round to the brake ducts and I decided the FMIC was good enough without a water spray.

Most annoying though is that I DID manage to sort a respray, but three years later on, its ready for another frown

However, my list is much shorter now

Essential

Replace tyres

Later

Respray

One day, maybe

rear subframe flexible mounts
Air temp gauge

That's it

Mine has been reduced significantly, mainly due to me working part time for a year, but this is what's left:

To Do list:

Replace Engine Stabiliser Bar Bushes
Camber Bolts, Rear Trailing Arm repair kit & Laser 4 wheel alignment
Cambelt and Aux Belts before Jan 2011
Focal Front Components + thicker wiring
Fix drivers window so it winds up correctly
Refurbish Brembos with seal kit & spray red.
Respray car and remove all dents. Fit LE Kit & replace rear bumper. Or fit PIU front & rear, with Zender sides. Get centre console sprayed too?
Replace Bonnet Release Cable
Sort Rust around front of car. Replace slam panel?
Fit 20v badge & refurb rusty B Pillar cover
Coolant Hose of Death
Refurbish Alloys & Spray LE Titanium / Black?
Fix indicator self cancel
Matching side lights to HID’s
Sort out the leak in the boot – looks to be coming from window seal? Definitely not the fuel filler cap drain.
Gliptone match leather repair.
Claybar + wax etc.
Barnacle Widget
Match inlet to head.
Replace/repair exhaust manifold & match to head & turbo.
Replace or patch up air con radiator & recharge
Refurb headlamp covers.
Retrim gear knob, steering wheel and handbrake console
Seam Weld Front Subframe
Sort overboost in midrange, replace PRV with uprated EBV?
Boot polish on front inner wings.
Get cloth passenger seat to renew foam for driver’s seat.
Remove throttle body and match to the inlet
Refurb rear brake calipers inc seals
Check n/s CV boot for a split & replace?
Replace both wishbones due to stripped threads.
Replace ARB Drop links with Fiat items as OE are cracked
Replace engine mounts - clunking with gear changes
Replace Toyos at Front in next 2k

I won't paste the "completed" list as it's about 3 times longer than that one.

Alot has changed since my list. I got rid of the 16vt and got a 20vt for starters!

But before i did i managed to do 2 of my 'essentials' ( 3" Turbo back exhaust & Cleaning Products). From the later list i also managed 2 (Boost Controller and Replace Shocks and springs (lower)).

Oooh! and i managed 2 of my 'Maybe's' (18" Alloys and Leather Interior) !! laugh

I guess i might as well make a new list for the 20vt CommuLORD laugh

Essential

Service
Cambelt
Oil Cooler + Pipes
2 New Tyres
Thermostat

Later

Radiator
Coolant Hose GB
Gearbox/Engine Mounts
Suspension Refresh

Maybe one day

Shorter commute & diesel hack to save the coop for my garage collection.

Given the miles i do in the coop now, nothing much can be left to 'Maybe one day'. The 'Suspension Refresh' is the lowest on my 'Later' list but it will still need doing within the next year or so.

Crikey! I posted that back in November 2006 and managed to do it all by......July 2007!

On the way I also stripped and rebuilt the rear end too!
