The only thing with this hotel is there's nowhere to go for the screaming lash/curry - unless we all want to pile in for grub at the service area and mix it with the "Highland Sights" Saga tours I'd have thought an hotel in central Penrith is better for pubs/grub but I don't know the area..... How's about a date being fixed to kick off then accomodation to follow?

I would have thought Keswick or Ambleside have a better range of pubs and eating establishments.
Keswick's even got a "night club".

Hmmm, last time I was in that area, in a choice between Ambleside and Bowness, we plumped for Bowness. Wasn't much doing but they did have beer so all was ok.

Very nice area for a drive about, was torrentially wet when I was there though.

Never had a night out in Penrith but it would make sense for the scottish lot to stay up there, then everyone else can meet up at the hotel in the morning and drive down into the lakes (far nicer than to drive up into the lakes from the south I think) There is also a cool waterfall to stop off and see

I also recommend that EVERYONE should drive the A6 from Kendal to Shap on the way back to Penrith, This road is awesome in a turbo coop (or any other really fast car)

Cant be the tourist season if you want to head into the lakes, has to be winter and hope for a good day. (in my opinion)

I agree with mitch. If there's going to be a serious turn out - trying to get an hotel to accomodate everyone post Easter will be expensive. I'd have thought a date end March at the latest?

Hi, Depending on the date, due to shifts, it would be great to meet up with you all. Will wait with interest for a date to be agreed upon.

I'm interested and watching this thread but can't say anything much yet given lack of time and date (rough location is fine though as I'm just a quick blast over the A66 away).

depending on when this is i would be interested. If its in feb then unlikely as already doing the scottish meet on the 4th of feb - but might be able to swing it in march.

We go tot bowness on windemere every so often and stay at a great place called fayrer garden - five course dinners!! bring it on! Semm to remember it being fairly quiet in bowness on the night though so perhaps perth is better - dont go to Carlisle - proper scary night out there (apologies to nayone from carlisle - I'm from middlesbrough originally so i know a proper scary night out when i see one!!!)

Should give enough time to get everyone sorted out, the weather should be pretty decent by then and the clocks will have changed, so there'll be a bit more daylight on the afternoon.

Sorry Craig, Yeah this will happern! What we need I think is the Scotish lot to decide on a date they can come down than the rest will fall into place I think. Location looks good, lots of room.
