Have to ask yourself why you want an air/fuel guage to begin with as they really dont tell you much.

imagine that you have more air than petrol in the cylinder
what happened??

that's why i think this is one of the most important gauges you must have

Get a proper wideband sensor if you want to keep a close eye on air/fuel ratios. Otherwise, as Rog has already pointed out, get the car on a RR.

Well something would be seriously wrong if this weren't the case

A/F gauges can give you an idea of the mix but if you had a problem you wouldn't necessarily be able to tell from the gauge alone

Fair enough, I agree they do look good

Autometer ones are pretty good, you can pick them up for about 50 quid.

Edit: about 60 quid actually

see above for guide. I found it easiest to wire into the ECU pin. You might also want to consider installing a switch to turn it off - it flickers about at night and got on my nerves a bit!

also to note if you install one with an off switch you may want to check to make sure the gauge isnt grounding the lambda signal. i had a weird problem on my littles brothers coupe where the gauge would ground the input signal when switched off (must be down to the circuit) so had to use a relay to isolate the lamda signal when turned off.

A good wide band sensor will cost you around £380, Demon Tweeks has a good kit in their motorsport cataloge (red one) you need to weld a seperate boss on the exhaust for the probe though.
Those nasty things that flick up and down reading from your lambda are crap.

See here for a propper wideband gauge.

I belive I've seen two wideband lambda sets which can replace the OE narrow band one. AEM and Innovate Motorsports both do lambdas that can give you an accurate AFR and simulate a narrowband to keep the ECU happy.
