Had a rush of blood to the wallet...Been and bought one of the phantom Malaysian coupes. Pearl White with 5km on the clock.

Delivery early Jan 2007 and it will get Irish '07 plates!

Costing a fortune to do..I'm sure there are newer better cars for the money but my lust made me do it ..Judge!

Eat your collective hearts out

Did you actually go to Malaysia and inspect the condition of the car(s)? May I ask how much including transport and import duties?

Absolutely not a wind-up. Did it through a dealer which meant that we could side-step most of the Revenue objections and avoid a 2000 build car getting a 2000 plate.

Very expensive to do..all the costs aren't in yet but its the guts of €25,000 once import tax, transport etc and the cost of 2 visits to Malaya. No warranty and effectively sold-as-seen except that belts/tyres will be changed before shipping.

€25,000 for a new coupe would be a bargain, it's just a matter of how much needs doing after 6 years inactivity - fair play!

Jeez man if i won the lotto id be knocking the door down for one as thats cheaper than they were new! albeit minus warranty!

All the belts being done and tyres, make sure the tensioner is done as well! Ask to stick old tyres in the boot as you could use them on a track day or flog them for some money

I bet its gorgeous but id say if its been dry stored not the best in the humidity over there it may need a mop on the coachwork... but airbag recaros... god i cant wait for the pics!! How much were you paying for flights by the way and how much is it for the shipping alone as im sure someone on here does this as their business so maybe could have helped cut down a bit on price?

Though id be flying out and padding the container it comes over in and when it gets over getting the engine the once over by iceberg/rog/barbz and at least the coolant flushed and priming the engine before turning it over...

Top Man

Jon Snijders told me he had been in contact with the Malasians regarding these Coupes, he was trying to convince me to buy one

I understood that there were only yellow and blue ones left though

I'm old fashioned..pics as soon as I have the film developed.

Torino in KL are the main source on these and hard to deal with. I went elsewhere and got mine through a source in Penang.

Don't forget a battery too! You probably can purchase a warranty, but as this is an exceptional case, don't know what this will cost. The only thing is you won't get an anti-perforation warranty and bearing in mind where those cars have come from, I don't know how they they will be affected by the humidity.

€25000? By my reckoning that's about £15000-ish. Delivered? On the road? All duty paid? That's a giveaway!! And new tyres and the belts done (although I'd want some decent proof that they actually did them......)

I think I need one - for sale, my Moon Grey Plus!!

I was going to say, remember the difference between pounds and euro! That doesn't sound bad to me if it includes all shipping costs and taxes. You obviously won't expect to get a similarly high resale value though...
