I want to order spacers to be used on my STD 16” wheels to improve handling and I would like to ask which one to use? I have two options: OMP or H & R I know that the hubcentric type is the one to go but what size 15 or 20mm??? Your feedback & other source shall be appreciated omran

just a point to make that was included in the last thread-adding spacers wont improve your cars handling!!it will improve its cornering ability and grip!or as clarkson puts it"handling is about feel, you cant quantify that with a stopwatch" i looked into hubcentric convertors a while ago to allow 5 stud fitment but the only ones yu can get is 5x130mm porshe fitment as all the others will overlap the 4x98mm standard pcd of the hubs and you would need about an et50 wheel to stop most of the porsche available wheels sticking out way too much as the spacers are 15mm per side for the h&r ones that i looked at

luckily porsche wheels are usually ET52 to ET55 Spacers do improve the coupes handling! Of people who've tried it no one has disputed this!! The manufacturer even did it as standard on our car's cousing (Alfa GTV) as their wheels come with ET30.5 as std whereas ours come with ET42 as std. John

Widening the track reduce lateral weight transfer (a bad thing), this leads to increased total grip from that axle Joe

thats increasing grip!grip and handling are two totally different things, handling is about balance/adjustability and feel through the wheel

Beast, What side of whose bed did you get out of this morning ? You seem be to picking faults and arguing with everyone Chill out, everyone knows what handling means, its how well a car goes round corners no matter what the dictionary states !

yeah john i realise that i was just wanting an explanation as i couldnt see why the handling would be better with a wider track.i could see that the grip levels would be improved but like ive said handling and grip are 2 different things

Anyway, is the difference really that noticeable in terms of how the car feels and looks?

How can I tell if I have hubcentric spacers? They are about 18 mm thick and the previous owner had them fitted because of the offset/Brembo problem. I'm told the bolts have been shortened (front wheels only, no spacers on rears)so I assume they go into blind holes and the spacers are attached to the hub with separate (countersunk?) screws. Is this correct. If the track is increased, mine looks to be wider than standard does this make tramlining worse?

hubcentric spacers are ones where you bolt the spacer to the hub, then the wheel to the spacer seperately.normal spacers just slip between the hub and the wheel on the same bolt. pmsl when you said countersunk screws,it brought wooden spacers to mind

that means there is no such thing as a hubcentric spacer then ;)i thought it was only classed as an adaptor if it changed the pcd of the hub and i said they locate on the hub and the wheels locate on the spacer im gonna have to stop reading the forum at 2am,i must be seeing things

H&R track+ are not but DR series are, for instance. Adapters may convert the stud pattern (PCD) but don't have to. Often they adapt between use of bolts and studs/nuts as well as spacing the wheel out of course Adapters also do not have to be hubcentric! as some older cars do not use hub centre mounting on their hubs to start with (mainly 70s and earlier cars) but rely on correct grade/tensile strength bolts and/or studs.
