The first instrument on the panel shows a small gauge with oil pressure indicator and engine oil temperature gauge, right? Well, mine has a battery voltage meter instead of oil temperature, how come?
The dials look pretty standard, just like in the manual Any ideas?

Well, logically thinking, if there is no gauge to show the readings then there probably isn't the sensor to read the oil temperature... but don't quote me on this I myself thought that battery voltage gauge is not as useful, after all, it always shows 12v and when the battery is loosing power you will probably know it through other means anyway, hmm-mm
Thanks, guys, put my mind at rest, I thought I had a freak of a car.

Shouldn't be too hard to fit a temp sensor in the oil line somewhere if you really wanted to and were handy enough with plumbing etc. Plenty of temp sensor units through Maplin electronics etc?

The earlier cars with gauges have a sensor in the side of the sump at the cambelt end. The later ones (inc. mine) have the casting but no hole or sensor. You could swap the sump for and earlier one (not easy iirc) or split a oil line and put a sensor boss in (although the ones to the oil cooler are on a thermostat i think so not much use).

I'm honestly not sure Carl. I had a feel of the sump the other day when i was changing the oil and there is a casting lump in the sump but no sensor. If it's somewhere else i'd love to know as i really would like an oil temp gauge.
