I agree with SIMMA on this. It's down to personal preference.

I have a strut, lowered on Bilstein's and it sits on 18's, this is the most uncomfortable ride I have felt. Yes it corners brilliantly but how many corners do I thrash on the way to work....None! \:mad\: For me this setup is totally impractical...but looks fantastic though! \:D I am getting used to it, but I would advise anyone considering changing their setup to sit in a coupe that has been modded already.

Hmmmm, now whats all this I've missed out on in the last few days.
I agree with John and having tried every suspension option available for the coupe I can comment on them all \:\)

S1MMA, you would have to go very stiff on the anti-roll bar (sway bar is an american term) to get the effects your talking about, the off the shelf bars for the coupe are only a slight upgrade so you shouldn't ever suffer with that.

My aim was to have a fully adjustable suspension set up that would work on the road and the track, Leda came up with the goods and after a vist to their factory in Essex the spring rates are now well sorted.
Im on 18's with 35 profile tyres and the ride is good, on the standard 16" wheels its very impressive. It handles bumps better than the standard suspension could and over A and B roads it can carry much more speed. No bouncing like there can be with the Billys and Eibachs, it just squats and gets on with it.
This is on a coupe with uprated anti-roll bars front and rear, uprated wishbones, full Leda coilover set up using 2.5" Eibach ERS race springs and ERS progressive tender springs.
Its not cheap with over £1600 worth of suspension goodies but its a well sorted chassis now.

Jimbo - if you don't mind me asking, how much did the coilovers set you back? I don't need wishbones, ARBs or braces, but I could do with sorting the ride quality - its great on smooth roads, but gets a bit crashy on nasty stuff.

Mostly though, I'd REALLY like remote damping adjustment (maybe even electrical) so that I can be comfortable on my long commutes, but have some sharp handling when I need it.

Magnetorheological dampers, anyone?

They're listed as to Alfa 155. Not sure what code anymore, but that should help you mate.

Your description of how the car rides and handles sounds like the set up I might be after. I do 20k miles a year so want a compliant ride, but would like to make it a bit better in the corners, and a bit less "crashy" over bumps. With 94k on the clock I think it is probably time for new shocks/springs this year. Trouble is, I would struggle to justify £1000 for doing this. Is there a more economical alternative?

I don't want to lower the car, or change from standard wheels/tyre sizes. I do have good tyres (Eagle F1's) and am definitley considering a strut brace, wishbones are fairly recently replaced. All suggestions would be welcomed.

You'd be surprised how much difference putting brand new stnd stuff back on would make.

I'm sure - but if I can get something better without having to pay a lot more I would prefer that option.
