Yo Coopers

This is my Aluminium Door Handle and Grille Project which I had up before the original forum died (RIP), so have put it together again. As the rules go
I have to put the pics as links..

Instead of actually forking out £££'s to obtain real aluminium/chrome parts, I decided to use some geniune aluminium paint, the type used to paint model aircraft. The results were IMO impressive and costs were next to nothing.

OK The usual suspects are :

Stage1 - Remove Parts

Unmarked door handles

Unmarked mesh grille (Coupé Plus model)

Door Sill Lettering

Stage2 - Paint Parts

Sill lettering came up nice

Stage3 - Fit Parts

Fiat Logo Chromed

This was done about a year ago and all the items are still in the same condition as the day they were painted.

Let me know what you think

cheers

Nazo

p.s. Much later after this, I had the grille professionally colour coded because of other work I was having done.

I bought a plus grill from a dealership, so I thought I would have a play with a standard grill and chrome paint.

Masked off the edges of the grill so the slats are individually painted in chrome. Bit tricky.

But it looks similar to the grills you get on Aston's which is what I wanted and where I got the idea from.

Thinking of painting the plus honey comb grill now, but I don't think it will look right until I have Colour coded skirts and lips.

The door sills look good, i've still got some paint left over. I might give it a go!

cheers Tony

Me too!

In all honesty Nazo, it looks like someone painted them with a brush and Humbrol paint, but each to their own, Its your car.

If you want a pro finish you need to do it properly.

Sorry you did ask for comments.

No.. its kewl.. All comments are welcome.

The front grille has now been professionaly colour coded, simply because of other related work.

IMO its not much different to having chrome rings inside, in order to achieve that look..

When I first read the title I was expecting a set of 156 front door handles stuck onto the side of a coop with a bling grille!

Big relief! - Looks Ok but I will leave mine alone, bit DIY.

You should have them painted by a pro and not sprayeed.

I'm really sorry, but i'm with Jax on this. It definantly looks very DIY rather then professional

I like it - not the door handles especially (not a fan of chrome interiors anyway), but the grill suits that colour coupe. Good effort!

I have seen it in person, I thought the photo's made it look cheap to, but in reality it looks really good!

i like the idea of the grill, but i would do it properly and get it plastic chromed... was somwhere in coventyr that would do one offs ( i enquired about the coupe console, bling bling ) but the cost would be alot. console and ashtray and headlights worked out to about 200 quid. no guarentee on quality either as the plastic can make the chrome pitt....
