Hiya!

Just like to say Sharon and I had a great time @ The Lakes. It was great to put faces to names and drool over our fabulous cars!

The Scottish Contingent had a great trip down from Glasgow to Abington with H2YPR somewhere in the far distance although credit to him he reigned it in a bit for the next section to Kirkby.

Thoroughly enjoyed the convoy and felt good to see all the heads do a double take and then pointing "Oh look there's a couple of cars that look the same...wait a minute there's looooads of them!!!!" as we made our way through Windemere!

After lunch, which hit the spot cos by that time Sharon was feeling a bit nauseas \:s from the twists and turns, I witnessed loads of coupe love which I just had to join in with, as it does become rather infectious \:#

Sharon and I then headed back, with a few others, to Windemere where we put our tourist hats on and did the old boat trip thing and ice cream etc...but then we had to get to our B&B as the lady was going out and this is where it got quite bizare , well for me anyway, Sharon just ended herself laughing and almost had to be resusitated.

Here's the scene...

Sharon "Will I use the NavMan to get us back"
Dee " Yeah, if you want"
Sharon "Here we go..X miles to destination"
NavMan "Turn left in 30 feet"

and so it goes on quite clearly directing us

Dee "This is great, we should be back in no time"
Sharon " Aye, it's a great piece of equipment"
NavMan " Turn right at 0.3mls"

and so it goes on...but here's where it starts to get a bit suss, there is a song "Take me home Country Roads"...yeah you know the one...I can hear you all singing it..."...to the place where I belong..." yeah, yeah, no problem. THINK AGAIN!!!!

There are country roads and there are country roads... NavMan was taking the preverbial. I kid you not when I tell you I felt as if the car had been transported into the inside of a maze the hedges were so high, the roads were so narrow the hedges were acting as wheel brushes in a car wash, there were no passing places for miles and in place of white lines in the centre of the so called "road" was...GRASS!!!

I was by this time getting quite concerned \:mad\: whilst Sharon continued to make a mess of my passenger seat, yeah that's right...P her little panties...laughing!

Well, we eventually got back to the B&B where I calmed down enough to get ready for a few well needed drinks. We headed off to the Whoop, where I had to pick up a bumber which SPARKYMAN had kindly stored in his room. We joined up with the crowd for some nosh and a few drinks...had a fab night with lots of laughs and some good chat which went on til the wee small hours, that is until the Portugese Barman could take no more and ejected us! Well when I said a few I really meant a few too many...

Thanks to all for making it a great day out especially:-

PAG for the organisation and badges

MABR for my bumper

SPARKYMAN for storing it

and last but not least...

COWBOY for some good crack...you're an outrage!

p.s. I'll try and post some pics once I worked out how to do it!

Silver_fox, glad you managed to make it down to Windermere to do some sight-seeing. Did you find your way through Keswick and down to Bowness OK?

Sounds like it was a good night at Whoop Hall, I'm sure we'll here more about it when Cowboy & C2D re-surface.

Maybe they're still trying to shake their hang-overs off and Chris might still be having problems with his low hanging box. \:o \:D

I'm here \:\) and Dave was right you know, my box is hanging low. I tried twisting it but it's very firm and doesn't look like it's going to fall off \:o

Hangover - pah

I'm dead I think. Dead people don't have hangovers \:D

It was a great meet.
As usual good to see all the cars and put names to faces. Big thanks to Pag for the name badges. \:\) Great idea (tho Penny and Lesley were sulking because they didn't have any) Big thanks to Flying Custard for sorting out the lunch venue - that was a boss place \:\)
And a big big thanks to Redline for escorting us and shepherding us all around He led us all the way back through the lakes and I'll bet he was dying to blast past that traffic and give it some beans \:\) Ta mate.

And Mitch for doing the same in his little pug - that thing can't half go you know I had trouble keeping up with him on the way back to Whoop .... no honest I did \:P Nice car though Oh and my Zeniths a 'TL' I think it's even older than yours \:\)

Oh and a big thanks to Sharon and Dee for keeping us up so late. The Portugese manager said to say hello \:D

We had a great day and a great night too. We carried that on today by taking a roundabout route home and visiting some nice little towns and villages along the way then going the pub for sunday dinner.

I'm just working on some pics now. Will post them up soon \:\)

No worries for being your tail gunner on the way back until your out of mind moment missing the m56 junction off the m6 even though i was flashing my lights and beeping my horn at you! Good to meet everyone, some familiar faces and some new ones! See you all soon

Been home about an hour and OMG i have had a crap time since leaving you all at the sportsman (apart from MABR, as i passed him on the m6 \:D )

Left the sportsman and got to the travelodge. But my dinner didnt agree with me and alaina was the same so we were ill all night. Then next morning really noisey at the service station so left around 10 and went shopping at "junction 32" but not after tom tom got us lost!! Grrrr.

Anyways, got to the cat lady's house and met the little kitten. Hes a darlin really and got loads of stuff with him for the trip. Now... back on the m1 northbound. 250 miles till home and....... blowout on front right tyre!! \:mad\:

Couldnt believe it!!

so had to jack the car up, put the space saver on the front and limp to the m62 services at pontefract/ferrybridge.

Phoned round trying to get tyre places/mobile fitters (rac recommended finding a hotel for the night. Obviously dont know how tight i am!! \:D )

Nuthing was doing, so i slung the space saver on the rear and the rear one up front. Changed the tyre pressures and set off on the LONGEST journey of my life. 50mph all the way back!! Tell ya what tho.

370miles for 3/4 of a tank and about 100 miles of that was before my tyre blew. So not bad going!! \:D

But sheer hell to be honest.

As for the meet :

Good meet everyone. Thanks to Pag/Mitch/Flying Custard for the organisation. Couple of brown trousers moments tho..

Firstly winding KP up and then realising the traffics were on the other side of the road.

Secondly, having a play with panic before a sharp left hander over a humpback bridge..... not recommended for lowered coupes!! \:D

Brill weekend but heading to bed cause im fecked. Got pics but no idea where.

Ross

Ditto nice to meet a few new faces from the Welsh contingent like yourself, CoupeDave (thanks again for the lift home) and Cowboy although I still haven't got to meet that cheeky Pinin bleeder yet due to him wimping out at the last minute.

Hello to the SilverFox and Sparkyman from the North of the border. Also nice to finally meet LeckyPete as despite living in the same town and frequently driving past each other in 5 coops between us over the last couple of years, hadn't met until Saturday.

Big thanks to Pag for an excellent meet, Redline for playing the good shepherd, and the likes of Mitch and FlyingCustard for helping with the local details.

Last but not least of course all those of you who I've already met before.

Anyway I took some pictures of.........

WhoopCoops
MoreWhoopCoops
Yet more Whoop Coops
Is there no end of Whoop Coops
BlingTastic
Most of the North East Posse. Sorry Panic didn't mean to truncate your coop but the sun was in my eyes and I couldn't see the screen on my camera.
Same excuse here

Cowboy with wheels
I'm very much faster then you.

Coops at pub.
More coops at pub
Yet more coops at pub
Last one of coops at pub
Gratuitous close up of mine
Just in case I forgot which was mine.

Anyone got any photos of the evenings entertainment that was "An audience with Cowboy", I took my camera out on the night but forgot to take any photos and just concentrated on drinking instead.

Last edited by Wishy; 16/04/2007 16:05. Reason: To add photos of course

Up yours Photobucket.

LOL, I saw the photos earlier when they worked and don't think you have anything to worry about Cowboy.

How was Cowboy entertaining? Well he just was being Cowboy (and it was the first time I'd met him although we have spoken before).

Interesting thing for us was that the 40+ group partied the hardest, us 30 somethings (meaning me and my better half) did a Cinderella at midnight and the youngsters (Mr Pleb this means you) crashed at 9.30!

Going to watch the sunset my backside, you went for hot chocolate and to get your pipe and slippers out didn't you? \:P
