I've been a few times to St A's and the best road I've found is to head to Stirling then through Dollar, Menstrie etc following A91 signs. If going over Kincardine Bridge/Forth Road Bridge then following A92 through Dunfermline/Glenrothes etc is a bit longer in time. I also prefer the Stirling route cos its slightly more direct not too many route changes to the journey. But then I'm not convoying up with you guys I'll already be there!!! $\:D$
