Yes, just happened to me too. Think they were on about 30k miles. Air con belt was fine, other aux belt was all cracked to hell.

Can't wait to get her back tomorrow and hand back this little soap bubble punto they've lent me meanwhile!
Sump should be hunky d and theyve said they'll check the condition of all the belts and any they change they'll put in the boot so I can see them. They didn't seem too certain about the apparent regular occurrence of the aux belt disintegrating first and b***ering up the main one \:o
Next challenge is to stop the leak just above the r/v mirror where some kid was playing chuckie ball high and it landed on the roof just above and dunted it just where the windscreen rubber is °\(
Have to re read all those posts about removing mirror \:mad\:

This came from seeing 20vt and 16vt with broken cam belts between 30-50k. Well below Fiat/Lancia service intervals. It also says change oil at 12k does it not. Surely we all change oil between 3-5k!!??
Oh yes Roger, Richard Beaty remembers you before you started Powerfiat. Notice now, i am a director of his company!
I do not talk BS, its from experience. i cannot warn Coupe owners enough.
Pity the archive got lost on here, but at one time, there was quite a number of Coupe 20vt owners having snapped cam belts with mileage between 40-60k. So 50k or 72k is pretty useless IMO.

Andy i think the main problem here is that Rog/Barbz/Paul etc etc are all well founded experienced members who people trust and havent really put a foot wrong in peoples experiences. So contradicting there advice, whether or not the advice is well founded, isnt gonna always be well received. I personally wont be waiting to 50k to change.

Back at last, a few quid poorer °\( but reassured that all the belts are renewed and tensioners fixed. The old ones are in surprisingly good nick although the ribs on the largest were beginning to flatten off at one side slightly.
They threw in an engine flush and some tiddler extras to band-aid my empty wallet
Thanks for all the advice guys. \:\) I can't see me parting with this yellow peril!

Glad to hear it has been sorted, its always upsetting when a 16v gets taken out by belts °\(
